Antivirus2008 Hinders Starting Computer

I had viruses and loaded Antivirus 2008. It scanned my computer and found 300 viruses which it deleted. The program told me to restart my computer, which I did. Now I can't get beyond Welcome page of XP. Does this mean everything is bad? Thank you for help
