Microsoft RDP to another computer on local network

I am unable to connect via RDP to another computer on my network. Both computers are running Windows 11 and both have Bitdefender Total Security. If I drop both firewalls, I can connect. I have added rules and still no joy. I can get to it using a third part tool, but I have always used MS RDP as its the best.

Please help…

Hello,

Go to Firewall settings and look for Stealth Mode and disable it.

Let me know if this does the trick.

No, sorry that didn't work. I know the problem lies with Bitdefender, as I have taken it down on both computers and MS RDP then works… But I'm unable to figure out what the problem is. I have followed all guides on doing the setup and none of them work.

Does the issue persist? With Bitdefender installed, if you disable the Firewall altogether, does it work then?

I have done that and the issue goes away. I can connect with RDP with both firewalls disabled. I have mentioned this before. For the moment I am using Tesmviewer which works really well except for the annoying messsges. But still would prefer to use MS RDP.

Hi,
Another thing you can try is to reactivate the Firewall and go to Network Adapters tab and set the network type to Home/Office using the drop-down menu near its name. Also add a network exception by following the steps from this article:

If this doesn't make a difference, then I think it's best to contact Bitdefender Support directly and ask for more technical advice. Should you require their assistance, you can use the link below to get in touch:

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

Thank you. That worked. Its so nice to be using MS RDP again. I knew it was the firewall, just wasn't sure which settings to change.
