Since the installation of Bit Defender (this morning) Task Manager does NOT show the activity on my SSD devices???
Hello,
Bitdefender installs filter drivers that sit between Windows and your storage devices. These drivers scan file read/write operations in real time, which can sometimes prevent Task Manager from getting direct performance data from the SSD. Windows Task Manager relies on Windows Performance Counters and WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) to show Disk activity. If a filter driver intercepts requests in a way that doesn’t expose raw counters, Task Manager may show blank or missing data.
I suggest to test with these modules off in Bitdefender:
Open Bitdefender → Protection. Toggle Advanced Threat Defense and Ransomware Remediation off temporarily. Then check Task Manager → Performance → Disk. If activity reappears, re-enable modules one by one to find which one causes it.
Also, check Windows Performance Counters. Press Win + R, type perfmon /res and see if Resource Monitor shows SSD activity. If yes, Bitdefender is blocking only Task Manager’s view, not actual monitoring.
