Bitdefender virtual disk

Even after searching and seeing to update to the newest version of the Free version, after awhile the virtual disk is popping it's useless self up again.
Is there an actual solution to this?
It does seem like it showed up after installing the newest version of VirtualBox.
I will uninstall both, then reinstall Bitdefender and see if the two programs have a problem with each other.

I uninstalled Virtualbox, did a restart and Bitdefender Virtual disk is gone. There is obviously a problem between the two. I didn't have to uninstall Bitdefender and reinstall it.

Well, the Bitdefender virtual disk is back. It's tiny, but it does give another vector for infection. I'm usually on the Linux Mint SSD, and I only fire up the Windows 11 SSD for a couple things.

I have uninstalled Bitdefender, and I'm hesitant to reinstall, reason is that after install I will have to uninstall the VPN I didn't give permission to install off of my computer, I have an excellent VPN, and I don't want yours, and it's pretty much scammy and malware to install it without permission. Also when removing Bitdefender it says it will remove all of it entirely, that is not the truth, it doesn't uninstall the Bitdefender Agent.

I reinstalled Bitdefender, and then had to uninstall the VPN I did not give permission to install, and installed VMware workstation, so far Bitdefender hasn't made it's pointless virtual machine.

Hi,
All customers that use a Bitdefender security suite also benefit from 200 Mb/day of free VPN encrypted traffic, (yes, I know it's not much, but it can be useful when needed), therefore Bitdefender needs to install the VPN app as well, so the user can utilize the full functionality of the product they chose. All Bitdefender apps are easily removable via standard platform specific mechanisms (eg for Windows, go to Programs & Features), so the VPN app can be removed if not desired, or if already using a competitor product. As for uninstalling Bitdefender when necessary, it's best to use the uninstall tool available here, as this removes all traces of the software so you can start off with a fresh installation.

As for the VM, I'm not entirely sure what is the context of use there, if you are using Bitdefender in conjunction with a virtual machine, virtual box, vmware or other apps, I can't really give advice on that… I also use Bitdefender home user solutions on VMware® vSphere for testing purposes and have no issues whatsoever..

After starting up the computer this morning. the Bitdefender virtual drive is back. So it has a problem with VMware Workstation 25H2 as well as Virtualbox. No, Bitdefender is not used on any of the VMs because they are Linux distributions. It is considered Malware when you install things without the user's knowledge and consent, which I did not see in the documentation of the free version installation that you would be installing the VPN.

The Bitdefender virtual machine doesn't instantly show up, I kept checking yesterday and did not see it, but today it is back with no changes made to the machine, only a shut down and start up.

Have to agree with MaidenHouse on this one. It should at least show an optional dialogue for the VPN. I use the total security package and it's a bit silly saying it NEEDS to install it because it's part of the package. Having an optional dialogue is normal. I always end up deleting it because of the mere 200mb. Also so you can't spam me with messages to pay if 200mb is not enough, makes it a very unwanted bundled software imo.

Also am bothered by the virtual disk here. Again, you stating you don't seem to have this issue doesn't matter and is anything but helpful.

I use Eryph for my virtual machine. Never had the ones you mentioned installed. Although Eryph is just for compiling the virtual machine and runs on Hyper-v that's built in to Windows 11.

Tried detaching the virtual disk in Windows storage manager and DISKPART. But it just causes the program to crash when I do.

With as little as I use Windows, I uninstalled Bitdefender, and won't install, or recommend again until this problem is resolved. The anti-virus works well, but someone screwed up in the coding and gave another vector for infection.
