Bitdefender UI doesn't show

I have a Windows 10 PC with bitdefender installed. When I try to "Show" the bitdefender main window nothing shows up except for the "B" icon on the taskbar. I can ALT/TAB to the window, the preview is empty and the window does not show up.

I have downloaded the uninstaller but the uninstaller has the same UI issue. So at the moment I'm stuck with a bitdefender installation where I cannot determine if its working, up to date and I cannot remove it.

What can I do to remedy this?

Hi,

It sounds like the Bitdefender UI process is running but can’t draw its window. You can find out if the protection is running by pressing Win + R, type services.msc and hit Enter. Look for services starting with Bitdefender, agent, shield, firewall, if installed. They should be running and automatic. Press ctrl + shift + esc, go to Task Manager and look for bdagent.exe. If it’s running, protection is typically active even if the window won’t show.

Maybe just reset the shell/graphics path the UI needs. Restart windows explorer, open Task Manager again and find windows explorer, right-click on it and select restart. Then try opening Bitdefender again from the tray/taskbar.
Reboot device obviously, and try launching Bitdefender directly, bypassing the stuck window state. Press Win + R and enter this: "C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender Security\bdui.exe" then press enter.

If anything fails, perhaps you could try to remove the installation in safe mode, since you mentioned that the uninstalled isn't showing as well.. Boot into safe mode, go to settings → update and security → recovery → advanced startup → restart now. Troubleshoot → advanced options → startup settings → restart. Press 5 for safe mode with networking, and run the Bitdefender uninstall tool again.

I can't guarantee this is gonna work, but safe mode usually removes a lot of graphics and overlay interference and often lets the UI render properly. I haven't experienced this myself, but this is what I can think of.
