Bitdefender signature update downloads: Plugins/e_spyw.i01 Plugins/emalware.001, what are they?

Bitdefender and it says that my pc is clean but then look through my Bitdefender update run today there are update downloads including:

Plugins/e_spyw.i01

Plugins/emalware.001

Plugins/krnl.xmd

1. What are these files??
2. Many other files downloaded too but too many to list.

Scan details say 123,634 'Skipped items' and 331 'Password protected' not scanned.

3. How can BitDefender state my system is clean when is skipped all this data?

Hi,

Those plugins are absolutely normal in the update context. Bitdefender updates its threat definitions daily, and those updates can include engine/plugin files in addition to simple signatures. Also, plugins/krnl.xmd appears in Bitdefender’s public update manifest:

As for the skipped items, these are usually items that were not modified nor accessed since the last scan, thus it was unnecessary to scan them again. With every system scan, Bitdefender will index the files that have already been scanned, and the scan time will greatly decrease, along with resource consumption.

Regarding the password protected files, they usually belong to the operating system. The absence of antivirus scanning is also not a reason for concern and you can find the detailed explanation here:
