I really like the "Alert Mode" for the firewall, I have it enabled.
The alert window I'm referring to:
One thing I'd like is a quick way to see if the file trying to access the internet is signed by a trusted signature.
Because one of my main back-of-mind concerns is that some malware has renamed itself, or replaced some legitimate exe. And while being able to see the path of the file by hovering over the message, if it's in a user-level-writable location (such as local AppData), theoretically malware could have simple over-written the "real" exe.
So when apps tend to auto-update themselves in the background, which causes them to change and trigger a new Bitdefender Firewall allow prompt, if it's within AppData I often find myself double checking the signature manually with the properties window (via the View Application button to take me to the path), to make sure it's signed (if it's expected to be).
Maybe it could just show right under the usual "application has changed" message, or even on hover like the path does. Like a green label "Signature: Whatever, LLC" if it's signed and trusted (and not an invalid signature obviously), or gray label "Unsigned" if unsigned.
For example why it would be helpful, if I see the message "The application spotify.exe has changed" and it's not signed, that would be a big red flag for me. But if I see that it's in the expected path, and is signed, I can rest easy allowing it. But if it's unsigned that would make me want to investigate. Likewise, if there's some familiar Windows file in C:\Windows\System32 trying to run, but I see it's not signed by Microsoft, that might also make me investigate.
