bitdefender taking lots of ram and # of processes

so, a new user here, coming from norton, where I was under the impression that norton has a lot of bloatware and it's slow.
I just installed BT Total Security and after a scan it seems there's a tremendous amount of active processes and one of them taking some 800mb, even idle (probably the scanning one).

Should I be expecting this on an ongoing basis?

Hi @cosmini

The amount of processes will remain the same, but the high RAM should settle down after 2-3 days of "machine learning". It can vary from device to device, but should settle down for that main process to ~275 MB to 375, at least that's been my experience on my devices. It can at times go a bit higher, though.

About 2 1/2 - 3 years ago, more processes were added to help "share the load", and for back up redundancies in case one failed there would be a backup process running.
