Hello, I'm trying to download utorrent, Bitdefender seems to cancel the download and won't allow it, how can I do this please? Thank you heaps.
Hello,
In think Bitdefender may be blocking the utorrent installer because one of its components is being detected as a potentially unwanted application (PUA/PUP). These detections do not necessarily mean that the application itself is malware, but they can be triggered by bundled components or behavior that security products usually consider potentially unwanted. I would recommend checking the Bitdefender notification to see exactly what is being detected. Go to Bitdefender → Notifications → Critical, then open the corresponding detection entry and note the threat name and the file or URL that was blocked. If you are certain the installer was downloaded from the official utorrent source and you trust the file, you can add an exception for the specific detected file rather than disabling Bitdefender protection altogether. Use the below path to navigate to the relevant exclusion setting:
Bitdefender → Protection → Antivirus → Open → Settings → Manage Exceptions → Add an Exception.
If the download itself is being blocked by Online Threat Prevention rather than Antivirus, the relevant website can also be added under Services → Protection → Online Threat Prevention → Manage Exceptions.
I would avoid disabling Bitdefender completely just to download the installer.
Let me know how it went.
