Bitdefender update encountering a problem

Question

Using Bitdefender Total Security on a Windows 11 Home version, I have been prompted two or three times by Bitdefender Dashboard that I needed to update my version and each of these times it was running long on 0% with no upgrade being downloaded so I had to cancel the update. In Settings I noticed that Automatic & Silent Updates were off so I turned them back on.

How can I verify if I am on the newest version as I have not encountered an update since these events?

In the Account and Settings menu on the left, scroll down and click About. This section displays information about your current Bitdefender version.

I am not using a third-party firewall or VPN. I only have the Bitedefender VPN which I have not yet used so am not sure what could be the problem if there is one. But how can I verify if I have the latest version which would assure me everything is up to date.

The latest Bitdefender version is 27.0.62.352 released on August 20, 2026, albeit there has been another minor update deployed today, but only for about 5k users, so nothing major. By default, Bitdefender automatically checks for updates every hour after your computer starts, and it usually updates its definitions multiple times daily.

Product updates, however, are not that frequent and may rollout once per month or at longer intervals.

These deliver the newest security patches, performance improvements, bug fixes, feature enhancements, etc.

If the update hangs at 0%, this could mean that something on that device is blocking the download. Do you use a third-party firewall, or maybe a VPN?
