Bit Defender found this trijan on my system. It has been quarantined,

but I would like to know how to protect my machine from it again.

virus name: trojan.generic.12228684

file name: boot.com

Any help will do!

Well, as long as you keep BitDefender Realtime Protection enabled, you should be protected about this infection.
