Doubtable Virus Detection In Bd Avp 10

Bitdefender Antivirus 10 Plus! said that my new downloaded security tool "ICESWORD for vista ver 1.2" has a trajan named TROJAN.STEALTH.B

I think this is a mistake. ICESWORD is a turstful famous security tool and I have been using it for a very long time and it has never been reported to have a virus by any antivirus software before.

I downloaded the IceSword for vista version 1.20 from the author's official blog: http://pjf.blogcn.com/index.shtml

and the download direct link is here: http://202.38.64.10/~jfpan/download/is120en_vista.zip

I checked the MD5 of the .ZIP I downloaded with the auther's blog, it's the same: 815cdcf4d9561954772e78a0a30c0cfc

So I doubt whether BD wronged ICESWORD.

The same version for XP, ver 1.20, hasn't be reported by BD at all.

I HOPE BD technology supporters can check where the problem is.

I realy do not want to see the conflict of my MOST TRUSTFUL ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE BITDEFENDER with my MOST TRUSTFUL SECURITY TOOL ICESWORD.

DO HELP, great thanks!

  • When tried to upload, it says "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is writeable". so Virus Researchers may need to directly download the sample from the author's blog.

    Hello Immortelle

It is indeed strange. BitDefender only detects the vista version.

  • thanks niels.

yes, it's really strange, so i doubt it may be wronged. anything found with the file?

  • Hello Immortelle

You can still wait or send the archive to virus_submission@bitdefender.com and add 4VIR in the subject line. So you will receive a quicker response. I am not a virus researcher. BitDefender isn't the only one who detects it but in this case I also think that it might be a false positiv. You can verify it here: http://www.virustotal.com/vt/en/resultadof...2ec4ba7b4065e31

  • Detection should go away after the next update. Thanks!

great thanks to Niels, you are really a good Moderator^^ I saw the page you gave and I also emailed the virus to the researchers.

Also great thanks to Vlad, it's really quick that BD Virus Researchers deal with problems^^ I just emailed the file and there is a response.

ED: I just updated my BD at 3:36, and it shows there is no virus in the files, so QUICK!

Great Thanks to BD, and wish everything safer with Protection given by BD. ^^

  • Hello Immortelle

You must thank the virus researchers I only gave the link. Thanks for the kind words but there are many other moderators who are also very good.

  • I believe I have just encounted the same problem with Windows XP Pro and Bit Defender 2008. As soon as I installed and ran Icesword, Bit Defender popped up saying it stopped numerous trojans by the names of "trojan.stealth.b". I looked at the paths for these and it showed the following:

    C:\windows\system32\drivers\isbrv122.sys

    C:\windows\system32\drivers\edewvnvu.sys

Is this a false positive? If yes, then is there a fix for this?

    Thanks,

    Lees

  • FP, detection will be removed after the next update.

    Best regards.
