Hello, two days ago I was graced with the good fortune of receiving pop ups from virus security 2008 malware scam. I did not click to install and started right away on trying to remove what ever was infected. This malware completely shut down my defenses, Bit Defender could not update nor could windows and I could not even look up site that provided information about this. After pulling my hair out for several hours I finally got to a point where the initial pop ups subsided and I could update Bit Defender, Windows and also start searching for more information. I thought I had it beat but then other pop up started occuring. I use Fire Fox as a browser and the pop ups were coming from IE so I knew that there was still something amiss because I have never had a problem with this before. In the end I had to unistall Bit Defender and install <removed> to get rid of the reminents of the initial infection which included:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlJBSiGV.dll -> Infected: Packed.Win32.PolyCrypt.d
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nmxfjgdp.dll -> Infected: not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.SuperJuan.fqr
C:\WINDOWS\system32\urqQkihe.dll -> Infected: Packed.Win32.PolyCrypt.d
I am hoping that I now have a clean system once again, but am a little worried that Bit Defender could not detect that these 3 files were corrupted. Even when I scanned them directly it said they were clean.
Should Bit Defender be able to find this?
