Total Security 2008, Won't Clean Internet Files!

Hi, I am running Bitdefender Total Security 2008, when I run "Tune Up" "Clean Internet Files" after a few seconds it returns the message

"The task was cancelled by user" but I have cancelled nothing! Any ideas?

Thanks

  • Hello Benichembla,

This is an(other) Bug from Bitdefender TS 2008 and from what I have read from a moderator on this forum this wont be fixed ever,But when you clean the Internet files it says deleted lets say 200 files and then task aborted by user,

If you run it again it says deleted 0 files and again Task aborted by user ,so the files are deleted according to the Moderator so it does work ?

I dont understand why that bug hasnot ever be fixed though ?

But you can always delete the files by Extra,Internet options,Clean Browser history,Select clean everything click ok and everything is gone .Or use Ccleaner that has also a Cleaner tool .but be carefull with the registry cleaner use only the Clean up function if youre not sure

  • Hello Benichembla,

You can upgrade for free for the remaining days of your current license to version 2009. First you need to remove the version 2008. To do that download this removal tool (if you are using a 32 bit version of windows) or here for the 64 bit version. First right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray and press on exit. Now double click on the uninstal tool and press on uninstall. You will be asked to reboot please do so. Run the removal tool 1 more time. Now install BitDefender Total Security 2009 and use your current license key to register for the remaining days. You can download BitDefender in your language or if not available in English here. You need to open the folder of your country or language. If you are using a 32 bit version of windows you need to bitdefender_totalsecurity_2009_32b.exe otherwise you need to open x64 and download it from there.

    Kind regards,

    Niels

  • Thanks Niels, I will download and give it a try...
