Love Or Hate Bitdefender Internet Security 2008/2009

Love BitDefender Internet Security when the the software is running smoothly, hate " /> it when the software is extremely slow to startup, updating problem....etc.

Here's the story, I bought BIS 2008 last year (license for 2pc, 2yr subscription), install one for desktop PC running window XP and the other for laptop running window Vista. The BIS for window XP seem to work ok except for the one problem which is the 4 green button which is lit up while the startup icon shows "there is 2 problem which requires my attention' which I do not know what it is that requires my attention. After a month or two this problem dis-appear probably Bitdefender staff did some improvement to the software.

The main problem is my laptop running Vista home premium, it took at least 10 mins to startup. Tried to reduce some of the startup in msconfig, but still the same. Use Bitdefeneder removal tool, reformat and start a fresh install still the same, in the end gave up and install freeware antivirus and firewall (stop using Bitdefender for about 4 months on laptop). One more thing whenever I re-install BIS 2008 I have to keep my finger cross as I often encounter updating problem, sometimes the problem goes away after a couple of days.

Recently, out of curiosity I upgraded and install BIS 2009 on my laptop, everything went smoothly and startup was quick on window Vista and no problem with updating. I also install BIS 2009 on my desktop (window XP) without any problem. Phew, thank goodness no problem with BIS 2009. To me Bitdefender is one software which gives me stress when installing as I do not know the outcome after a fresh install.

I am now a happy user of BIS 2009 (at least for now). On this forum notice some complaint about BIS 2009, I guess BIS is prone to software or hardware configuration. If only they could iron out the bugs, BIS is great software at a great price.

One more thing to add, Bitdefender removal tool always did something to my laptop wifi 4965AGN and my PC unable to enable this device, as I am software novice, the only solution is to re-install by restoring back to factory default setting (no installation disk).

I tend to agree here. When installing my BD Antivirus 2009, it took me hours to configure it, but when the product is working correctly it is a very good product, just wish support was as good!
