how to stop emails containing foreign text (Chinese)

Hello,

We receive alot of spam email daily. With a previous SPAM filtering program, we were able to block certian emails containing non english text. Is there a way to stop incomming chinese, japanese, greek text emails from comming in, or at least make them go directly to the spam folder?

Thanks!

Open BitDefender go to antispam, settings, there you can enable Asiatic and Cyrillic filters, enable also all settings under advanced settings don't forget to press on apply. Then open your mail program then press on the spammers button that you will find on the antispamtoolbar. Now you make rules for e.g *@provider.gr that will move all mails that comes from that particular domain will be automatically labelled as spam. For better protection you can block the entire domain from where the spam is being send. But be careful because also legitimate mail that came from the same domain will be labelled as spam. Then it's better to just add the mail as spam and add the spammer manually.

  • Hello Niels,

Thank you for your prompt reply!

Unfortunately, we receive over 200 spams a day. Most are end up in the spam or junk folder. I know when we used Norton a few years ago, we were able to totally block foreign text from even reaching our inbox.

    This is some of the text we would totally like to block;

    ミキだょぉーσ(ゝω・´★)ミキだょぉーσ(ゝω・´★)

As we just don't know how to read it!

We know how we can add a sender as a spammer and totally block IP addresses and domains, but these spammers use different "sender Names" with each spam they send.

here is one sender; raiemi3@so-net.ne.jp. The next spam will be from a totally different domain such as raiemi3@softcle-nettionsd.ne.jp

So this is where we run into problems.

Just thought we might have missed a setting somewhere, but it is evident that we have not.

thanks again for the reply as Tech Support has yet to acknowledge our submission a few days ago...

  • Hello Scott

You can also try this open BitDefender, antispam and put the slider on the highest level (aggressive). But you don't have a function yet where you can block a certain text yet. Was Aziatic filter already checked? You can ask it in the feature request topic that you will find in the products section of this forum. Otherwise you can temporary make a rule in your mail program to block mails that contains such text. You can also ask to your isp to enable the spamfilter.

  • Another thing: you should be patient for a few days and keep on marking those messages that are SPAM as SPAM and the sender as SPAMMER so that the filter learn (it is called training) new e-mails and have a point o comparison for the next e-mail messages that you receive and are spam.

  • Much appreciation!

The Spams all go to the Spam filter 98% of the time, but it would be great to not even have them show up in our Email program at all and blocked before they ever get to us. this idea is probably not even within the aspects of BD though.

    cheers!

It's very hard to catch all the SPAM messages because the technology in forging these type of message is evolving quicker than in the case of malware and trojan.

Think of gmail that has it's own SPAM filter and has rarely problems of not catching SPAM messages, but from time to time if you a have an e-mail address that is very used you can get 1 or 2 SPAM e-mails in your Inbox.

  • Hi hamtown!

Our antispam engines support charset filtering for Asiatic and Cyrilic charsets. Depending on the product you are using, you can set it up to block incoming e-mails written in any of this charsets.
