Did you run the scan from the shell menu or the Bitdefender's interface ?

    from BD interface

  • Hi,

I'm also having the similar issue.

I've installed the BD Internet Security yesterday on Vista Home Premium 32bit and from the completion of installation itself the virus scanner didn't execute. When I tried to run from the UI it says "Scan Failed To Execute".

    Hello all,

    I would need to know:

    1. The number of threads of the vsserv.exe process(normal value is above 53)

    2. If you have Nero 7 installed (if you do, remove it temporarily and check if that works)

    3. If you have other security solutions.

    Thanks,

    Florin

  • Hi,

The number of threads of the vsserv.exe is 53 and sometimes it goes to 54. There aren't any other security solutions or Nero.

Is it possible to get a fix ASAP?

I am also experiencing this issue and I believe it has only started happening during the last few days. I can't check threads of the vsserv.exe since I'm not at home right now, but I know I don't have Nero 7 installed. The only other security solution I have is Windows Defender.

Also, I cannot seem to get my scheduled scans to run - even when I instruct BitDefender to run a scan at startup.

Quick edit again - I am running Windows Vista 64 bit, as well, with 64 bit version of BitDefender.

  • same here

    issue started today

update doesn't work either - can't even see virus signatures and engine version

    vsserv.exe threads = 25

    no nero 7

    no other security options

    wth happened?

  • this is unbelievable!

i managed to fix BD IS so both, update and scanner work again.

thnx to my dual-boot system i could copy files and import tons of reg entries from a spare hdd where BDIS worked

to my main hdd where it failed.

fine, it started working again i updated vir defs etc.

then, after maybe 1 hour i booted back to my spare hdd to see what a new update brings.

was too scared to try this on my main hdd.

guess what, BDIS upgraded to v. 12.0.12 but after reboot the security center stopped working!!!

no icon on sys tray although i can run BDIS by double-clicking desktop icon.

however, this pop-up windows comes out once a while saying that seccenter failed or something.

looks like it's trying to launch all the time.

    i sent report as asked.

i can't believe what all those dudes at BD do.

users report errors so they bring us new update which makes program unoperable or half-operable.

how can i trust that your product i paid for really protects my PC?

what the ###### is going on there?!

i feel like i'm beta testing your product and you got my money for it!

looks like you are completely lost in whatever you do with this version.

while v10 plus was reliable this one is not a bit.

  • I finally got it working. I went thorough some of other threads in the forum and used few opinions.

    1) Uninstalled the BDIS with BD Uninstaller

    2) Rebooted and ran a registry cleaner (I used CCleaner). PLS BACKUP THE REGISTRY BEFORE CLEANING IT

    3) Rebooted and installed the latest version of the BDIS 32bit

    4) Rebooted and ran the update and it stated to work.

You can refer to the thread on http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...12441&st=20 for more information.

    Cheers!

  • thnx, hasithag, but i'll leave it like that for some time.

point is my main hdd has BDIS fully working atm, and the issue concerns an OS on 2nd hdd which is in fact my testing drive.

i'll try to dig into the problem when i have time or see if there is some future fix from the vendor.

if i'm unsuccesful i can restore whole OS in no time from ghost image

  • You guys should be ashamed of yourself. I have been a faithful user of Bitdefender for years, but you guys really dropped the ball on this one. I am using Vista 64 Bit and none of your crazy complex patches or fixes work.

The only thing that works is to completely uninstall the program, including manually uninstalling all bitedefender directories and then re-installing the program from scratch...oh, and that has to be done every couple of weeks.

This "failed to execute" thing has been going on for months and affects virtually every possible Windows operating system including all 32 and 64 bit systems.

If you guys can't fix this problem for this long, how on earth should we feel comfortable with you fixing and detecting viruses. Oh, and when this happens none of my email ever gets flagged again for a virus. After I do the re-install you catch a few a week. That tells me that when the scan flakes I am not being protected in my email anymore as well.

I will never, ever, ever use Bitdefender again and I know that you will delete this post, but I hope you guys get your act together for all of these poor souls that actually think they are being protected...

    Good riddance! <img class=" />
