  • I am having the same issues using Total security 2009, Win XP pro.

Scans won't run and get message " The scanning process was not started in the required time interval. Press OK to close the BitDefender Antivirus Scanner."

I tried both patches included in above referenced link.

    Please send me instructions ASAP.

  • This is the link to the unsuccessful patches I referenced in previous post.

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...ot-working.html

Also, will downgrading to TS 2008 solve the problem?

Shame, shame, shame on you guys... This problem has been going on for months and affects every single Windows 32 and 64 bit systems and you guys still can't figure it out. None of your crazy patches or fixes work. Why should I have any faith that you can deal with a complex virus when you can't even fix your own program.

The scary thing is that my email gets flagged for 2 or 3 viruses every week until this fail happens and then nothing. Absolutely nothing gets detected in my email. This is scary for obvious reasons. I have used Bitdefender since the very beginning, but I am through.

For all of the poor souls out there that are still frustrated, the only thing that works is to completely uninstall Bitdefender and make certain to manually delete all bitedefender related directories. Then do a fresh re-install and it will work for a few weeks until an update is done at some point and the program gets knocked out again.

PLEASE BEWARE FOLKS.... when this happens you LOSE ALL protection!!!!! I know this post will probably be deleted by the admins because they are lost, but hopefully a few of you will spread the word and find something to protect your computer.

  • Hi

I have the same problem as all the others and I have tried both pacthes and also reinstalled it 3 times without it working. I have bought a 3 years licens of bitdefender antivirus 2009.

I use Windows XP, danish version.

When I use the fix-button nothing happens. After a few seconds a message pops up saying " the scanning proces was not startet in the recuired time interval. Press OK to close the bitdefender antivirus scanner"

When I use manual scan is says: "Error intitialyzing threat scanner. Please contact bitdefender support"

    Please help

  • ok, is there a fix for this?

    anyone? this is just ridiculous...

  • Seems I have been lucky but now I have the same problem as many others. "Scan failed to execute" immediate message on any scan I try. Followed a few minutes later by "The scanning process was not started in the required time interval. Press OK to close the BitDefender Antivirus scanner".

I use XP SP2. BD Internet Security 2009.

Which, if any, patch do I apply?

  • Hello ronchicago,

We're glad to hear that the patch managed to resolve the scan issue.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Maybe this will help in debugging the issue - I did two things in the past few days that I had never done before:

    1. Ran quickscan beta while the normal Deep Scan was running

    2. Paused and then cancelled a deep scan.

I have tried the second patch (and the first too) - that did not solve the problem on any of my 2 PC's..

I have sent you a zip-file with outputs from sysdump.exe and fileinfo.exe and hope you will find the solution in a hurry on the basis of these informations. If you do I guess that you will please a lot of unhappy customers, who all have the exact same problem. Mail is sent to support@bitdefender.com as I discovered, that it is not possible to upload it here. I only managed to upload BDFileInfo.log here.

Have you ever tried to open and run one of these software pieces? To my best knowledge the realtime protection is still active even though you cannot perform a scan for files with virus.

As I see it: With this cannot-scan problem a computer's disk storage cannot be cleaned for inactive viruses, but the problem certainly do not affect whether or not the computer gets infected with virus; the realtime protection is still active and prevents infections.

BTW: I'm not paid by BD to write this - I just want to make clear that this is a minor problem.

  • open the Task Manager and look for the process called "uiscan.exe". If you don't have it there

Diana I am having the same problem, with Internet Security 2009, the automatic scan ran yesteday, but the one scheduled for today failed and I can't scan manually. I see 2 copies of uiscan running, is this normal?

When should uiscan run, while a scan is running, or all the time? How many copies should I see running.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Diana,

My Internet security 2009 started working after patch #2, could you tell me what that patch does?

    Thanks.

  • Hello Cage-au,

Could you tell me please if you fixed the issue by using the first or the second set of patches from the KB article?

    Thanks!

    Diana

I have the same problem with my 32 bit Vista computer, but don't have the problem with my XP computer.

It gives me a warning saying I haven't scanned for malware but when I hit the fix button nothing happens.

I also cannot execute scans from the console but the scheduled scans work just fine.

There have been several posts in this thread with patches, which ones should I use for my problem?

    thanks,

  • Hello Mike Campos and samurai0200,

The first patch contained in this article addresses the issue that samurai0200 encountered on his system - please try it, restart and test in order to see what results you have.

Regarding the second set of patches, they are designed to replace a few files in BitDefender that were corrupted with the update to built 12.0.11.3 where the BitDefender Threat Scanner service was merged into the BitDefender Virus Shield services.

  • Just adding myself to the list of people who have the "The Scanning process was not started in the required interval..." with Vista 32. Going to try the solutions in this thread and see if I can get it working again. I have had to remove and reinstall BD 2009 3 times already on this computer.

Just a comment of importance. I have been a steady supporter of Bitdefender for years. The 2009 version has been the most unreliable product, always failing, so many bugs and required reinstalling. And last night, it allowed a trojan virus to download off a webpage, but the firewall caught it when it tried to communicate out and then it was deleted. The programmers have really let us all down with the 2009 version. I had no problems with 2008. The team owes us a reliable version next time.

The most annoying bug is the message EVERY TIME you exit ANYTHING fullscreen. Asks if it should be added to the list, you add the program, and it still asks again. Tell it to STOP ASKING, and it still asks every time.

Anyways, time to fix BD AGAIN. But please, somebody there smack the lead programmer for letting this buggy version out, and no bonuses until they get a DECENT WORKING VERSION for next year. Seriously, this kind of lousy programming should get somebody fired for letting the world think that all BD products are this unreliable. I still think it's the best on the market, but everybody (local in person, not just online) I talk to tells me how they dumped BD for other companies after the 2009 release. So it's costing the company a fortune right now through lost customers and bad words circulating.

Thank you for those who are running damage control cleaning up the mess the programmers released as a "working product" that is clearly still in a beta state.

  • Okay, the fix here resolved it rather quickly without the need for a complete removal and reinstall. Thanks again to the damage control teams.

    Hi,

I have the same issue "Scan Failed to Execute" with my Windows Vista Home Premium - 64 Bit computer... I don't really know when the problem actually started but i only realised it today as i wanted to do a deep system scan... None of the scan are working at this time and i am not able to start the Bitdefender Threat Scanner Service from services.msc tool...

I have tried almost everything (Patches and Fixes) but it did not help resolve the issue....

I want to know if my computer is protected right now because of this issue...

Also please advise me what actions i should take to resolve this problem at the earliest....

    Thanks..

  • Hello ShineSpirit,

First, please disable UAC for the current user and then try to run the patches listed in this KB article.

After having completed these steps please let me know what results you have.

    Thank you!

  • Thanks for your reply.

I have already tried that patch but had no luck fixing the problem i was having.. I have Bitdefender installed on two computers... One of them is Windows XP which is working fine... The other is Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit Edition which is the one i am having trouble with...

What do you advise i should do at this time...

    Thanks

Can someone explain why support is not responding to the files that I submitted on June 7 and again on June 11? It's now the 17th.

I did the patches and BD is running "better" but it is not doing the scheduled scans.

This is just too ridiculous, really, all these complaints and security software not working.

One thing that annoyed me is that I can NOT turn off Bitdefender. I cannot go to the task manager and end BD processes. Which is frustrating when the thing is not working anyway. But it is unacceptable to me no matter what. I need to know how I, owner of my pc, with admin rights, can end a program or a process.

When chatting with support, they told me they are battling attackers that turn off BD, and probably any security software. I understand the difficulty in creating a piece of software like this, but everyone still rants and raves about free AVG so I am wondering why I am paying for this....???

  • We have a patch that I would like you to try - I have sent it to you by e-mail a couple of minutes ago. Please try to use it and see if you are able to scan after running it.

I am having the exact same problem.

  • "I did the patches and BD is running "better" but it is not doing the scheduled scans."

That happened to me after the most recent round of installing patches. It turned out that something (presumably one of the patches) had cancelled all my previously-scheduled scans. I rescheduled them and theyv'e been running for a few days. It'll be another week or so before I know whether the patches worked this time. (This was try #4 for me; they gave me a new one this time. In the past the patch has stuck for about two weeks and then BD has failed again.)

  • Hello Diana

    Can you please help me?

I have some of the same problems with Antivirus 2009 as described in this thread:

    No scans at all.

I experience more than just ONE problem (both with and without error messages), therefore I tried both of the patches (32bit) from here:

    http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB547-en--What-t...ot-working.html

None of the two patches fixed the BitDefender program – still no scans work.

Do you have a solution for my problems with BD?

I purchased the product in January, and the problems started in March.

I am using Windows XP. 2002.

    The problems are:

    1.

When trying to perform a scan (full system scan or deep system scan) in the BitDefender Basic View, no error message comes up.

When trying to perform a scan (full system scan or deep system scan) in the BitDefender Advanced View, it says: “Scan failed to execute” or

“The scanning proces was not started in the required time interval. Press OK to close the BitDefender Antivirus Scanner”.

    2.

In the Antivirus -> Local Security it says “You have not scanned your computer for malware for 89 days”. But nothing at all happens when clicking on “Fix”-button.

    3.

I can not start a scan from the start menu. When trying to perform a manual scan like this: Start menu - Programs - BitDefender 2009 - BitDefender Manual Scan, then Bitdefender comes up with this message:

“Error initializing threat scanner. Please contact Bitdefender Support”

    4.

Moreover it seems that no actions have been taken on infected files since 25-03-2009 (Antivirus - History –Real time protection).

Also the last infected file deleted or blocked was on 28-02-2009 (Antivirus - History - On demand-tasks)

At least it is not visible in the History.

    5.

    Scheduled scans do not start.

    6.

Trying to scan one file or document by right-clicking and choosing “Scan with Bitdefender 2009”, it says: “Failed to launch Bitdefender scanner”.

And a few seconds later: “The scanning proces was not started in the required time interval. Press OK to close the BitDefender Antivirus Scanner”.

Please help me make Bitdefender work again.

    Thank you.

    Hello fredbird ,

We have created a support ticket for your issues : 200906181006735 and I have sent you an email with a troubleshoot procedure that you need to follow. Please respond to our email with the files that we need as soon as possible.

  • Well, that was fast. My most recent occurrence of the BD failure was just a few days ago, and I re-installed the first patch and (for the first time) installed a second one as directed in email. After the previous three failures the patch was good for about two weeks. This time it was good for about three days; my overnight scan didn't run and when I tried to scan manually this morning I got our old friend "scan failed to execute".

I have followed every piece of advice issued by BD, though some of it didn't work (like emailing logs; the mail was rejected by their server for being too big) and some of their advice was contradictory and required clarification. This is ridiculous.

  • Hi

I to have the errors described by (so many) others on this forum with Antivirus 2009 in Win Xp Sp3 (Danish).

Whenever I try to scan I get the "Failed to Launch Bitdefender Scanner" and when I try to run a Deep Scan I get the "The scanning process was not started...".

I have tried all the suggested fixes (patches, registry cleaners etc.). I have also tried to reinstall windows, and the first thing I did when i had finished updating windows was installing BD, hoping that a completely clean install would fix it, but no.

I have tried to contact support and have tried to ask them why I didnt get any answer on my first request.

    My support id is 200906051000181.

I have seen others on this forum get a response on the thread, so hers is my try.

    Regards Martin

My mistake -- the fix lasted five days this time, not three as I reported.

Antivirus uptimes measured in days are still problematic, but I wanted to at least correct the number.

I had the same issue as everyone else in this forum. Provided patches have proved to be useless.

I was able to correct situation by moving the antivirus protection level from "Aggressive" to "Default" - it doesn't check HTTP traffic on the fly now but at least I can scan files.

I have started to use BitDefender Internet Security 2009 three months ago and it is a third critical issue that I have to deal with. I had to disable firewall - it killed my system. no patch available. I had to remove antifishing add-on for Firefox - it disabled my Citrix connections, no fix. NOw I had to decrease security of the system allowing potential threats to be saved on a filesystem before them could be recognized.

It is the worst ever antivirus experience I had, and I used six or seven brands of them for about twenty years now. As soon as I see Kaspersky on sale I out from this boat. Ideally I would like to receive a refund.

    Hello IamCanadian ,

As my colleague told you in her last reply to you , the issue that you encountered was escalated to our Testing Team .Unfortuantely we do not have an estimated time when a fix will be released . We will contact you back through the email as soon as we have some updates from my colleagues .

  • I am now having the same issue on my Dell Laptop. It is running Windows Vista 32bit. I have ran both patches and enabled/disabled the user accounts as instructed in the instructions. I am wondering maybe if a complete reinstall with the latest version of Total Security 2009 would do anything for me.

  • Hi Diana,

Is it possible I can get the same file to fix this obvious bug in Bitdefender.

    Thank You,

    Darnell

    @berreke

Please tell me if you are able to run a scan using these steps: go to Start - Programs - BitDefender 2009 - BitDefender Manual Scan. I will need to know if the scan launches like this. Also, please tell me if this is a recent issue or did you have it immediately after installing the product.

  • Hi Diana,

Hello, I've tried everything in this thread & still my scan Freezes when I try to start it. I've tried re-installing, Applying the Patch "[http]http://www.bitdefender.com/site/KnowledgeBase/consumer/#547[/http]" & Running it from All Programs>BitDefender>Manual Scan and STILL nothing. I don't have ANY 3rd party security applications like Ad-Aware or Spybot S & D installed.

    Hello Lamron333,

We had to sent you an email asking you for more information's about your system . Waiting forward to your reply with the files that we need.

  • I am just having this problem for the past 5 day - I have tryed all the tips here.

Is there any other fix out there?

  • I can't send you the files you need because the files exceed the max MB for my e-mail. I can only send files under 4MB. So what now?

  • Hello, all. I just joined the forum because I was having trouble with BitDefender 2009 (Vista 32 Home Premium). Guess what, I can't initiate a scan!! I see that the problem appears to be quite commone here!! WTF??? I've only had BitDefender installed for a few weeks, is this the sort of trouble I can expect from BitDefender? Perhaps I made a bad choice when I selected BitDefender.

I bought it yesterday! installed it today, on a clean XP( also installed today ), and now i'm here looking for "Failed to execute" help!

    Hello hipopotamos ,

Please try the patches provided in the next BitDefender article and let us know what happened .

  • 1. have xp sp3 32-bit

    2. uninstalled 2008 bitdefender antivirus

    3. installled 2009 bitdefender antivirus 24-06-09

    4. it will not scan

    5. i tried all the patches , specially #547 both first and second

    6. tried all suggestions given by people replying in this forum

    7. i see that alex stanciu have given the standard reply : try patch #547 to alot off people

but i dont see any results. only replies like :"we like to know if u used the first or second patch .. "

    8. when the problem have persisted at least 6 months, isnt it fair to say u cannot solve the problem?

    9. do all paying customers legally have to accept that bitdefender antivirus-scanner 2009 can not scan ?

    10. is the scanning capacity important / or not important in the overall security picture off antivirus 2009?

    11. Will bitdefender not soon come with some kind off reasurrence. ( are bitdefnder not aware that we as customers think off you as not able to accomplish your jobs.)

    12. can bitdefender solve all cases off scan malfunction individually ?

  • Post #186 got me fixed - had to run both - Thanks!

  • Ok, replied to your e-mail & did everything you asked & still nothing, just waiting for you to look at the files you wanted. :(

You may have to wait a long time. I have several tickets and submitted files but they don't reply and don't send a fix. All I read in this thread is "we've created a ticket for you" as a pacifier. I ran the mentioned patches and that helped some, but BD 20090 is still not executing scheduled scans.

    Have you tried http://www.bitdefender.com/site/KnowledgeBase/getSupport/

  • I also am having this issue. I am running BitDefender on 3 computers. One has Vista Ultimate 64, and the other two are running Vista home Premium 32 bit. Please send me the relevant patches. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi there,

I too am having this same problem over and over again. I've applied the patch and it seems to work for a few days and then messes up again. Too bad, BD has always been really great to work with, but if I can't trust my virus scanner, then I have to go elsewhere. Can you say lost lifetime value of a customer. . .

Anyhow, I am running a Vista 32 bit system. I'll see what ideas you come up with and how fast, but I can't wait forever for a fix.

    Thanks,

    Jim
