Slow Gmail

I couldn't easily search for the solution so I hope this post will be helpful to others...

This is for internet explorer 7.0:

Open Internet Explorer

click >Tools >Manage Add-ons >Enable or Disable Add-ons

select BitDefender Toolbar and select Disable and OK

Restart Internet Explorer

This solved my problem with gmail being painfully slow.

  • Another workaround is to log into Gmail, then click on Older version in the upper right hand corner and you should be able to access it with the Antiphishing add-on enabled. Also, do you have the same issue when using another browser like for example Firefox?

  • I am having slow GMail too. But if you disable the add-in, doesn't this defeat the purpose of the program?

Please read the second reply on this thread as well - it contains a workaround that will bypass the disabling of the add-on.

I have the same problem with BDTS 2009...strangely only on one of 2 computers although they both run Vista Home Premium and IE7. The problem with the work around of switching to the old GMail version is that every time I reopen GMail, it defaults to loading the new Gmail (I could not find a setting to permanently select old). That then takes a painfully long load time during which other applications also do not respond. Not a good choice of poisons

This has been a disappointing experience since buying BDTS after having good experience with the basic free BD edition. It was not easy to find this forum and these postings. I am still waiting from a response from Tech Support to see if a real fix is available, otherwise, I will return it to Costco and get a refund.
