Bit Defender 2008 Install Issues On 32 Bit Vista Home Premium

I just tried to do a fresh install of BitDefender 2008 Total Security on my new Toshiba Satellite laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition. The software will install, but it cannot find the update server. The internet connection is working and windows firewall is disabled.

I've already tried the manual update dowload (weekly.exe for 32-bit Total Security 2008), and it actually makes things worse <img class= " /> . Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

How to post a Hijackthis log.

Download HijackThis from here:

Install the program, but don't run it.

Go to My Computer -> Tools-> Folder options-> View

Check: "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck:"Hide protected operating file systems". (like in the picture)

After this, close all the programs that are running(the browser, the IM client, the audio player, etc), but do not close the antivirus or the firewall program !

Run HijackThis.exe from Program Files or just use the shortcut from your Desktop.

Click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.

Copy the log from Notepad and post it here

Don't fix anything, some entries are good and cand damage your operating system functionality.

In some cases is necessary to rename the hijackthis.exe file in test.exe or something.exe and after, run it.

did you install BD on this PC befor ????

if you did you must uninstall it and clean PC from BD files and dll

also go to start --> run--> msconfig

if automatic update is disable this is the problem because when it disable you cann't update (manual and from internet )

just fix the problem

You know, after all this, I think I will just switch security software. Bitdefender isn't good enough to justify the hassel. Thanks to all for trying, though.
