Very Poor Application

Options

I just wanted to add my bit before uninstalling and moving on with the intention of hopefully putting a few people off from purchasing this really disappointing piece of software.

A quick review of this forum will show the major flaws with BitDefender Internet Security 2009 and I have experienced a number of them - anti virus scanning refusing to start, services stopping and refusing to re-start, very slow performance from the GUI, flawed error reporting, fatal crashes on xp machines, peculiar messages pointing to malware scans having not been run that simply cannot be fixed by clicking the "Fix" button etc.

I have un-installed and re-installed the product on a number of occasions with no improvement on performance.

With all these infuriating issues with the front end of the product I can have no confidence in Bitdefender to actually highlight security issues with my computer and thus can only presume the back end is flawed also.

My original intention was to highlight these already known issues to the support team with the intention of requesting a refund of the funds supplied to cover a recently bought set of two year licenses but do not have the appetite for a protracted discussion with the support and accounting teams from Bitdefender so will look else where for my computer security needs. The software I paid for simply should work straight out of the box without lots of jiggery pockery to get it functioning correctly and in my opinion the product I was provided with was not fit for purpose.

The one thing I have learnt, and this is very much my own fault, is to try out software using the free trial option when offered before parting with any money.

Rant over.

I think Bitdefender 2009 Internet security is a lost chance. The program would be very good, I think it could be the best security suite.

Unfortunately nothing works. I tried to resist but I can't think that every time I log on windows something doesn't work.

Service are not responding, scanner doesn't work, antispam toolbar crashes, antiphising is not enabled, behavioral scanner is not enabled, privacy is not enabled and I can't enable it anymore, when a major update is available I start praying, my registration one day is valid and the day after not, and so on...

Support is fast but never fix anything.

In the recent past I have tried G Data, Zone Alarm, Norton; you can say good or bad things about these security suites, but they always works without bugs.

Sorry but I definitively switched to Norton Internet Security 2009 which is working very well.

Maybe one day I will enter this forum and read that Bitdefender 2010 is very good and so I will return, for now there is no reason to make it happen.

Spending money for a non-working program... maybe is this marketing?

Oh yes, I could have said "I have switched to another security suite" because you can buy a security suite instead of another one, but you will be sure that it works.

Sorry, the next time (if exist) I will not write "Norton".

  • i too, switched to another program after less than a week, that was over a month ago, still havnt heard a thing re: refund or indeed my problems. program and service is seriously flawed, as the many following my post on another forum agree.

It is indeed a very poorly built "product". Just gave me another blue screen, with issues related to the driver bdfndisf.sys. Windows complained with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Their posted tech. support number is bogus.

I'm running on Vista Business 64bit.

That sounds like a hardware problem.Google and you ll see that defective RAM may be involved.

  • I dumped Norton AntiVirus 2009 when the new Sonar feature deleted a program WITHOUT confirmation <img class=" />

I was a Norton/Symantec fan in the past. We use the Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise at work. But if Norton (aka Symantec) starts having features the remove ANYTHING from my system WITHOUT confirmation I cannot trust them again. At least with my home system.

I found BitDefender AV 2009 top-rated at several sites.
