Games For Windows Live

Options

Hello,

I'm running Bitdefender Total Security 2009, and I can't seem to get any downloadable content through games for windows live to download.

I've uninstalled bitdefender and it downloads just fine.

I've reinstalled bitdefender and games for windows live is set to allow all traffic, yet i can't download anything.

microsoft tells me to open these ports

Port listings for Games for Windows - LIVE

The following ports are required to be opened to use Games for Windows – LIVE games

Source

Destination

UDP 1024-5000 UDP 88

UDP 3074 UDP 3074

So I added a global policy for any application using any incoming/outgoing port on the referenced above. yet no dice.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get it working please.

Thanks,

Josh

  • First, please try to see if by disabling the Firewall in BitDefender you still have this issue. If yes, lets try something else:

Open BitDefender, go to Antivirus and then to Custom Level - uncheck there "Scan yahoo messenger traffic", "Scan windows live messenger traffic" and also "Scan http traffic". Now please test if this application is able to connect.

If not, try disabling the entire Antivirus module and check to see if it makes any difference.

  • I've turned on game mode, and it didn't work, I know I've also disabled the firewall, IM has always been disabled as I don't use it and it didn't work. I will try antivirus when I get home.
