Bitdefender Services Are Not Responding

  • I was also having the "Bitdefender Services Are Not Responding" problem pretty much everyday after installing Antivirus 2009. It required a reboot because sometimes it was even locking my computer up. The only way i have been able to eliminate that problem.... 7 days so far and no reoccurence yet, was to do the following: Disable the Game and Laptop mode, Disable Automatic Vulnerability Checking, and Disable Privacy Control. I'm not exactly sure which one of these features, or combination thereof may have been causing the problem, but since doing that i've had no problems with it. Kind of like pretty much cutting the program to the bare minimum, but that's all i really need it for anyway :) . If it begins to happen again, i'll come back and let you know.

Update... it's now Aug. 1st and still have had no more computer lockups or constant "bitdefender services are not reponding" problems. I just needed basic antivirus protection like i had with CA for the past few years... which ran fine. I've only enabled real time protection and anti-phishing which is really all i wanted anyway from this program. All or some part of that other appears to have been causing me some problems. If it starts acting up again... i'll let you know... and for me at least it'll be bye bye antivirus 2009. Good luck all.

  • i facing the same prob that my bitdefender is not responding due to vsserv..

I'm running windows vista home professional 32-bit and BitDefender total security 2009...

i face no problems with it for a few days before the error, i turned the game mode on before this problem existed

I have tried to repair it but stil got the same problem again.

when open taskmgr i did notice vsserv.exe is running ...but I have no idea how to check how many threads it has...

    need help please...ASAP

Apparently BD sets the game mode to on during installation. I checked and found it was on and turned it to off. Will see if the problem returns (vsserv not running).

Wish I would have found this forum before I recommended to someone to buy this AV program. Last time I choose a product on the recommended lists of PC World. What I want to know is why I wasn't warned about these issues while purchasing today? Why wasn't I given a response that known issues are being worked out and to wait until the software is fixed?

After loading and installing the AV, I get the message that "Bitdefender Services are not responding"

I tried rebooting and it took my computer FOREVER to get back to normal. It was so slow it was unuseable.

My client has Windows XP SP3, we installed the 2009 anti-virus. Could someone please give me a service ticket so that I may start the process of trying to fix this? Otherwise I'll just request my money back and uninstall.

There's a million AV programs and I pick this one. I'm sure my client wasn't too impressed with why I'm explaining to her that I don't know what's going on with the installation and operation of Bitdefender and why her computer has just crawled to a stop. I was embarassed.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello ,

This 'not responding services' has been going on for months!! I tried your solution on this link:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=14743

It worked fine for a week but now its back and also with a message that I haven't cleaned my computer and didn't update for 37 days! The tune up has been done today and the update I check it daily.

    So what now?

    Fida

  • Hello Fida ,

  • Tried the fix posted and it worked for about a week, now back to gray ball and rebooting. Since it doesn't look like the problem will be fixed in version 2009, will it be fixed in 2010? My subscription is up in 15 days and don't need the aggravation. <img class=" />

    Hello,

I've tried the fix on this page: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=12902 , but it didn't work for me.

So, here's a question for the moderators on this forum: is there a fix yet? Because I didn't pay sixty euros to get an antivirus programme that's got bugs like this.

  • Hello Gerard1989,

This issue has been solved in our 2010 version. We recommend you to upgrade for free to BitDefender 2010 following the steps from the next topic.

    Thank you .

I have 2010 (upgraded from 2009) and 2 of my computers are reporting the same error. I actually never had the error when I was running 2009. But I do have it now.

That's strange, I recently upgraded to 2010, and that seems to have solved the problem for me..

  • I'll rephrase that; it still doesn't work, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. Not only that, but since I've upgraded to 2010 my Windows Live Messenger doesn't work anymore, kinda suspicious.

  • I am also getting this persistent services not responding issue on my Vista Laptop. First it used be occasional now its almost at every boot !!

  • Same issue as reported by other users here.

This is the second issue found after 3 weeks of installing BD2010, other issue being the heavy CPU usage of vsserv.exe.

Why is it that BD staff are issuing work arounds to issues which have been 'known' for some time, for the users to amend DIY? Where's the patch guys?

    Many thanks,

    Gaz

  • I was trying to save the configuration from RAM to FLASH PROM but I get this meesage Error 8544: PLC Error Server Error: The content of the flash memory are NOT equal with the PLC.

What can I do to fix this?

The Keyswith was Off when I did this.

    Regards.

  • Same problem here... all of a sudden vsserv stopped responding.... had to uninstall and reinstall..... if this happens suddenly when im out what is goin to happen to my system.. im using bd total security 2010,..

    Is there a patch?????

kindly help please or i will be forced to recommend other antivirus suites for my friends...

  • The error message "Services not responding" can have multiple causes, in order to make sure that we correctly identify the reason why this message comes up we need to treat each report individually.

I have created support tickets for all of you in our database and sent you some diagnostic tools for the system. Please reply to the e-mails that you have received attaching the reports

In case anybody else encounters this error message with BitDefender I would recommend contacting support and attaching the reports generated by the diagnostic tools available in the following article - you have a link in the bottom part of the article on how to contact support:

I am also having this issue. Mozilla and IE will freeze, the PC goes into "jet taking off" mode and performance goes to heck in a handbasket. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not going to get too excited just yet, .... but, ... I'd been having ''vsserv.exe not responding'' EVERY day recently. Needed to restart the service repeatedly in the same day on numerous occasions.

My PC was also responding very slowly when accessing Windows Explorer & programs. Even trying to open BD was a slow process, waiting for it to show itself.

On the 30th Dec', I decided to reinstall BD. I used the BitDefender_Uninstall_Tool.exe, then rebooted. I then used a Third party registry cleaner, and it found more BD left-overs !! I backed up these files, then allowed the program to delete them, then carried out a fresh install & update of BD.

Well, ... so far, 48 hours later, ..... NO vsserv.exe lock-ups; Windows Explorer opens like it should (quickly); programs, .... including BD, show themselves how they used to a while back - quickly. I'm not holding my breath, ... but it's been a while since the PC and BD behaved themselves. I'm hoping the pre-reinstall clean up of the Registry might have cleaned out something that was hindering things?

I'll post here IF, and as soon as BD greys out again.

''.................. 4 days and counting, ..... NO vsserv.exe not responding (or greyed out icon), and everything is working as quickly as in my lasy post ohmy.gif)

Did the clean install sort things out??? Was it the ''left overs'' that I cleaned out, causing the problems???

Any thoughts Alex? ..... if there's anything you might want me to send, feel free to ask.... I'll keep my fingers crossed it stays working.''

It has now been a whole lot more, and i have had this issue for several months, like Sm00th-DS I have also followed the above quoted instructions http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=14743, nothing, as I do NOT see the file. Unlike the poster I use BD2009.

If you have a valid BD license and your hardware platform meets the minimum system requirements, you can upgrade to the current BD 2011 product for FREE. That is the version that is receiving the fastest support.

You will find all the details in this topic.

    Regards,

This software is a joke. Besides all the problems I had with the 2010 version, the 2011 download had corrupt files. So after all the trouble I've had with BD, and Defender Pro (which I was unaware was made by the same people), I'm uninstalling this crap and going with something NOT made by this company...something free. You've now lost a customer.

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/installer/en/

Note: Before downloading the above installation kit, please unplug the internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adapter, if you are using one and then enable it again.

  • It may be possible that you don’t find vsserv.exe process listed in the Processes section of Task Manager.

there is a link after this in the pinned post "Bitdefender services not responding" the "what to do" one. The link is broken so it won't give me the page to go to.
