Fix This Issue: No You Can't!

Options

it' been 11 days since I was last able to scan my computer for malware. bitDefender 2009 brings up the issue saying "1 issue pending: You have not scanned your computer for malware for 11 days" so I clicked on "Fix this issue" but it won't take it! It's like deaf. I did "update" for new viruses but this one particular problem still goes unsolved. Help me please. Maybe there already are malwares (got some files in Quarantine) in this computer.

    Hi

probably BD is scanning in the background, and the pending status is not updated yet. If the scanning is over, try and restart the system and see if the problem has disappeared now.

    Hello HOG,

    Try the following:

Open BitDefender, go to Advanced View and then to Antivirus. In the upper menu select Virus Scan and run a deep system scan using this procedure, then restart the PC and test in order to see if the notification is still on.

    Thank you!

I am having the same problem. Every day this week it has told me I have not scanned my computer for malware...it starts at a week, and works up every day from there. Every day I click, "fix this issue". Every day it goes through a LOOONNNNGGGG drawn out scan that takes hours it seems. I can hear it working, As it is working, the "pending issue" line goes from red to green and it says there are no pending issues....until the next morning when I boot up and it once again tells me I have not scanned for malware in x# of days!

I'm having similar problem, all the system tasks have disappeared from Virus Scan tab. All that's left is User tasks (My Documents), and misc tasks (Contextual Scan, device Detection. The 3 scans that are usually available in the system tasks no longer appear (Deep Scan, Full Scan, Quick Scan - if I remember correctly). What gives? Bitdefender tells me I have not done a malware scan is 6 days. Fine, when I press on fix this issue and fix nothing happens because the friggin scan isn't in the list anymore. <img class=" /> Far too many glitches in this program lately. I think I will be looking into another internet protection suite when this runs out.

OK, I thought an uninstall and reinstall would fix the problem. Guess what? Still the same problem- not able to fix the malware notification because the deep system scan doesn't exist in the system scan list. This kind of reminds me of the problems I used to get with Norton. Always some glitch after an update. What's happened to quality control and pretesting of the updates before production? I'm going to try uninstall without an update to see if I still get the problem. <img class=" />

By the way I tried the two patches in What to do when the BitDefender scan functions are not working. I have tried to run the scans in basic view, no dice and as I have said before the scans don't appear in the advanced view under the Antivirus Scan tab. I have tried several uninstalls and installs and I'm still running into the same problem <img class=" />

  • Hello NesralNeets,

I too have the same problem, the scan options are not visible now. But, I can see them in the basic view but could not scan even manually.I have installed CCleaner software some two months ago and I think that may be the root cause for that.Did you also use this software? Please reply me when you get solution to this problem.

    Thanks

    Satish,

No I haven't installed CCleaner although I do have Spysweeper installed. I have had that installed for quite a while without any real conflicts with Bitdefender.

I have a 3 user licence. 1 machine is running Internet Security 2008 on a laptop without vista SP2 installed. The scans show up under the Virus Scan tab so that's OK for the moment. I have another machine running IS 2008 with XP and the scans are still there. The machine I'm having trouble with is loaded with vista home premium with SP2 recently installed. I uninstalled IS 2009 and installed IS 2008 (thinking maybe it was a version problem and get the same issue with not being able to access the system scans. Is there some incompatibility with Vista SP2 and Bitdefender Internet Security  ?

    Hello,

The first step for troubleshooting this issue is to run the first set of patches available in this KB article. If you are running Vista you will first need to disable UAC before running the patches.

Tell me what happens after running these steps on the system.

Thanks Diana for the UAC tip, I missed that in the KB article. The scans are back but I have Critical Warnings on PC Security (Real Time Protection) and Network Security (Firewall and Stealth mode) that won't fix.

    Diana,

I uninstalled IS 2008 and reinstalled IS 2009. The program seems to be working fine (ie the scans are showing up) and Protection, Firewall and and block port scans are all indicating they are selected, Dashboard indicates protected. I still have UAC turned off. I am running a deep scan now and then I will try rebooting with UAC on to make sure everything is still working OK. I'll keep you posted.

Rebooted with UAC turned on and the System Scans are unavailable again. Incompatibility? A remedy would be appreciated.

    Hello NesralNeets,

Unfortunately this is a known incompatibility that can occur on some systems with UAC enabled. We are working on developing a permanent fix that will be implemented in future versions of the product, but until that time the only workaround is to disable UAC for the current user.

I have disabled UAC and although I can now access the system scans I am now unable to access User Tasks and Misc Tasks. Definitely something very screwed up here. It also seems to be taking a very long time for this issue to be resolved. When I scan the other complaints/threads about this I find this issue dating back to March. Shouldn't this issue have been cleared up by now? I'm not a happy camper. <img class=" />

As a new user of BitDefender IS, I am beginning to regret my decision to move away from ****** products. BD Internet Security is clearly not wholly compatible with Vista and the Company should really say as much on their site, and offer customers who have brought the product in good faith a complete refund. I have raised this issue with BD Support and the other end has gone 100% silent.

In fairness to BD Support, they have offered two solutions to my problem. Neither worked first time. I decided to de-install and re-install BD Internet Security 2009 and I then applied the recommended fix via Safe Mode. This was followed by a deep scan which, 2 days later, appears to have worked.

    Hello NesralNeets ,

Unfortunately we cannot tell you for sure when we will release a fix for this issue. There is a workaround that you should try and this will permit you to keep User Account Control enabled. Here is what you have to do :

    1. Open BitDefender and go to Advanced View . Click on the Antivirus module then click on the Virus Scan tab .

    2. Right click on Deep System Scan and choose Clone then click on Ok .

    3. Now you can enable the User Account Control option and you will be able to perform a scan using the clone that you have created .

    Thank you .

Alex, as the #5 post of this thread says, there is no option to choose "Deep System Scan", therefore your workaround fails at point #2. I am having the same issue.

    12,

If you disable UAC (Control panel, User Accounts, Turn User account control off or on - deselct control on) and reboot then you should have all the scans. Then you can follow Alex's instruction and then turn UAC back on again (requires another reboot). Worked for me. I have UAC enabled and have the copied scans in my User Tasks list. The scans work like the System tasks you can't access when UAC is on. Hope that helps

  • Alex and Nesreel,

Thank you very much. In my fatigue I misread what was written. This is a nice workaround and I feel "safe" once again.

The malware scan fix offered to me by BD Support has worked for a week. This morning I turned on my computer and got the usual scan Status warning. Unfortunately, clicking Fix does not initiate a system scan. BD scanning appears to be frozen. I have reported this to BD Support and I await their reply.

We have received the files that you have sent us , but we also need some dump reports that were automatically created after you encountered the blue scree error . As I told you in the reply sent to you , you will have to provide us all the files that you will find at the next location : C:\WINDOWS\Minidump .

We are waiting forward to your reply .

Although this fix allows the deep scan it doesn't appear to fix the alert or fix status once a deep scan is run. The only way I can clear it is to run the scan with UAC off and then run a deep scan (or hit the fix under status column in the fix issues window). Still hoping you guys can up with a fix for this real soon.

No luck...same warning msg this morning when rebooted system. This has been going on for weeks and I finally decided to research problem on internet.

I have my full system scan set to run every day at 2 a.m. If I want to continue to do this would I need to clone this one as well. I'm not very computer savy but I am just trying to keep my computer protected. I'm assuming from the other posts that it is not good to leave the UAC disabled????

I would suggest that UAC not be disabled even though BD alerts you to new installations most of the time. Yes, I would clone the full system scan as well. I cloned all the system scans including the Quick System Scan. Here's hoping that a fix is coming soon. I understand that one is coming in the first half of August according to a previous post in this thread. Next weekend is the middle of the month so let's see if that fix actually arrives. Alex,

This morning I received a system message that BD had updated/upgraded/patched and needed to reboot. Great I thought, we will finally get a fix for this as you alluded to above. Well, guess what..... NOT. If this problem was supposed to be addressed in this upgrade it didn't work for me. Is there something else I need to do to fix? In previous correspondence with BD support I was told this would be automatically handled as part of the upgrade/update.

Had another BD system generated message to reboot after upload/upgrade. Still not able to access system Scans. This is extremely frustrating and this problem has been going on far too long. I will likely not renew my subscription and will definitely not be recommending this software to any of my friends or family. Very, very unhappy about not having this issue resolved to my satisfaction (and apparently many others as well). <img class=" />
