I have BitDefender Antivirus 2009
Version: 12.0.10
I too was having trouble getting the updates to work.However i have fixed this.
I looked around here for a solution and they didn't work exactly how they all said.
However it was a close one.
Switch to Advanced Mode
then select Update then Settings Tab.
Primary Update location settings
Use Proxy = Unchecked
http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com/
Alternate update Location Settings
Use Proxy = Unchecked
http://update1.bitdefender.com/
i dont know which one worked..but it worked.
