Greetings

I have a fresh XP SP2 install

I have a fresh install of BD2010

I have a fresh install of Thunderbird 20022

it seems that when thunderbird pop my messages from my mail servers, from time to time I have a Bit Defender crash message with a request to send a report to BD center, which I did several time.. then the BD service becomes unvailable.. and the icon on the tray becomes black

most of the time, but not all the time, all my message received within TB are just screwed.. no subject, no sender, and messages skrewed up.. when I check my webmails, those mails are just fine

I have not found any Windows\Minidump folder but I found some dump at

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Application Data\BitDefender\Desktop\Profiles\Logs\device_detection

    Hello freeriders ,

It will help us if you can go to the next location :

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BitDefender\Desktop\Temp (if you are using Windowx XP ) or C:\ProgramData\BitDefender\Desktop\Temp (if you are using Windows Vista) and upload on http://www.sendspace.com/ the dump files that you will find there . This is a know issue and it is currently investigated by my colleagues from the Testing Team . We are waiting your reply .

    Thank you .

honestly it is very irritating to have all the mails skrewed up.. and the program up and down.. I'm about to quit BD to be honest

  • Hi Alex

Do you have any news? it starts to be very irritating.. I have stopped to use Thunderbird so far (use the webmail !!) but it is not really what I want

I still have some BD error message wit the BD freezing then for a little while

what can I do? I used to be very pleased with BD and made all of my relative to subscribe to your service. I'm really now searching for an alternative even though I would love to stay on the BD boat..

    please let me know asap

    Hello freeriders,

Thank you for submitting the reports . We are currently working on fix related to this issue and after we finish all the tests, an update will be released soon.

For the moment, please follow the steps that I have sent you through the email so that we can determine what is causing the BitDefender crash reports and to see if BitDefender is still active during that time .

We are looking forward to your reply .

    Thank you .

I have the very same problem (September 21st) with all the latest updates, so it's clearly not been fixed yet. A work around is to go into BitDefender settings and switch off the anti-spam. This prevents the crash and burn. Thunderbird's own anti spam is as good anyway.
