Backdoor.dssdoor.c

Options

My computer contains a file which is infected with this "Backdoor.Dssdoor.C", and BitDefender can't get rid of it. No quarantine, no deletion. I've tried the safe mode scan 3 times, all to no avail. I've tried disabling Real-time Protection and then scanning, but still nothing.

For now, I've just trapped the file in a system of folders. Whenever I open the folder containing the file/virus, a notice repeatedly comes up saying it's blocked the virus. I cannot use standard deletion either, that brings up the repeated notice as well. I've tried Unlocker, with the same results.

My foolish brother, who had downloaded the file in the first place, claims it's a false positive.

Now, I have 2 questions:

1.) How do I get rid of this file? I didn't even want it on my computer in the first place. <img class=" />

2.) If the file IS a false positive, how come I can't delete it?

This is quite the predicament, as I want to delete the file, but I don't think I can unless I turn off Real-Time Protection. And I really don't want to do that, for risk of infecting my computer, in case it's not a false positive.

Any advice?

    Hello RubberBandit

Can you please post the result of scan in your next reply? You can find the scanreports when you start BitDefender go to general, events. Double click on the entry choose more info and copy and past your scanreport.

I suggest that you do this also go to start,my computer, right click on my computer choose properties, system restore, check the option disable system restore on all stations. Confirm the windows message. Wait till everything is greyed out. Uncheck disable system restore on all stations. Confirm by pressing on apply and ok.

Untill I didn't saw a scanreport I can't say if it is a false positiv.

    Regards

  • Niels,

Thanks very much for your reply, but I've now sorted out the problem :) . I downloaded a free, on-demand anti-trojan scanner, and then disabled System Restore. Then I went ahead and took a chance and disabled BitDefender real-time protection. The anti-trojan scanner then had no problem removing. A reboot and deep scan in safe mode from BitDefender finished the trojan off :D .
