Bdc.exe Is Missing

Options

Hi,

since I was not very happy with the built-in scheduler I've planned BitDefender scans using the command line scanning utility and the Windows task scheduler (see this old knowledgebase article.

The program bdc.exe is usually situated in "%CommonProgramFiles%\BitDefender\BitDefender Threat Scanner\av32bit_*" (* represents a varying number).

This works fine on 22 out of 25 PCs (all Antivirus 2010 installed from the same package). On 3 of the 25 two or more folders beginning with "av32bit_" exist (usually there are two and the bdc.exe from the most recent one is used for the scan), but the executable is missing in all of them.

Does anybody know what's going wrong here and/or how to restore the default situation?

    Hello danielk,

    If possible, on the computers where bdc.exe is missing, please download and run the BitDefender FileInfo tool from the next link . After that, you will see that 2 files will be generated: BDFileInfo.log and BDRegnode.reg . Archive these reports under a single file, upload it on http://www.sendspace.com/ then send us a reply with the download link.

    Thank you.

    Good luck. On two out of the three the problem was already solved by reinstalling BitDefender, one is still downloading. Here I could still gather the information. The requested files are attached.

    Anyway, besides the other trouble I have with Antivirus 2010 this is a minor issue. I can confirm most issues other people have reported in this forum (service not responding, first session freezing after restart).

    Best regards

    Hello danielk,

    In order to solve this issue we recommend you follow the steps bellow :

    1. Download the a BitDefender patch from the next link : http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...av32bit_X86.exe .

    2. Start your computer in Safe Mode :

    - restart the computer;

    - repeatedly press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins

    to load (you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu);

    - select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".

    - wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation

    message; click "Yes" to acknowledge.

    3. Run the patch downloaded earlier;

    4. Restart your computer in Normal Mode and then run a BitDefender update.

    Let us know if the same issue occurred.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

    I have the same problem, bdc.exe missing. Only there are some differences in my work environment. One of them is that I use Windows 7 x64. So I assume the patch won't work for me. I allready used the filinfo tool and archived the two files, you can find them here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/9jybrp

    Tnx in advance :)
