  • Hello Lightbulb42,

Please try to see if you can boot the system with the latest Knoppix version available here:

    http://knopper.net/knoppix-mirrors/index-en.html

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for your interest Diana!

I downloaded KNOPPIX_V6.2DVD-2009-11-18-EN.iso, burned it to DVD. booted from DVD and it loaded and ran without a hitch.

So how do I add BitDefender to the iso??

  • Hello Lightbulb42,

Thank you for running that test. In the next version of the BitDefender Rescue CD we will be implementing the latest version of Knoppix, we'll keep you posted on when it will be released.

  • I am having a very similar problem:

    Downloaded Latest Rescue CD

Looking for KNOPPIX CD at /dev/hda

the boot process stops at this point. It is possible to type commands (I think) .

Also my Seagate 500 harddrive which is the Windows boot disk is not listed in the drives above. This drive is the only SATA drive on the system

I've added my system info in case that helps.

If not then sorry for over informing ;)

    Thank You!

  • Hello StormFX,

    Try it like this:

Boot the system from the CD, then when the bootloader comes up(to put it visually when the penguin is displayed :D ) press Tab and then in the new interface type:

    dma

    hit Enter.

Let me know how it goes.

  • I just burned the latest Knoppix iso to CD and booted my system from it easily. However, I don't have such success with the BitDefender Rescue CD. It's worked on two other computers, but not this one. Here's what happens:

It displays the two penguins (dual-core) and starts running through the series of command executions, with each one running until the following line is displayed, with the error message bolded:

    starting udev hot-plug hardware detection... udevd-event[2332]: run_program : 'sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit

I tried fiddling with the options, but was unable to get one that gave me different results. I see in other Linux forums (Ubuntu, for example) that this problem is not unknown. It's probably a configuration issue for my system with the slightly older version of Knoppix being used in the rescue CD. Can you suggest some other boot options that might work in place of the default? Here are my system specs:

    AMD Athlon 5000 dual0-core processor

    4Gb memory

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Update: I tried adding all_generic_ide to the end of the options. Eventually, I got to the point where it says "Starting single X-windonw..." and then the following line appears:

    Probing/loading AGP modules

Well, ten minutes later it was still probing, which I suspect meant that I was out of luck. However, it seems that it might be simply playing with the options. Or I might have to wait for the next Rescue CD based on the latest Knoppix to come out.

  • Hello,

If the system stucks at "Probing/Loading AGP modules" you may also try to add "the noagp" option to the other options inserted.
