I had been running BitDefender Internet Security 2009 for about 9 months without problem. Recently I formatted my PC and re-installed BitDefender and since have been noticing a significant slow down.
The normal process for me reaching this slow down, is:
1) Boot machine, wait for windows to start up.
2) Open browser and visit a number of web pages.
After just a couple of minutes browsing the web my PC will lock up. I've tried starting Task Manager before browsing the web. The result of this was that just prior to the slow down, the vsserv.exe process doubles the amount of memory it's using, and the CPU usage jumps to 100%. At this point task manager also becomes unresponsive. After another couple of minutes the CPU usage drops back down to normal levels and the vsserv.exe returns it's memory usage back down to about 30mb.
I've got BitDefender installed on two OS's on the same machine (running on different partitions) and the behaviour is identical on both of them.
I'd appreciate some help in diagnosing and fixing this solution, as currently it is making the machine almost inoperable while BitDefender is running.
