    Hi ddreamer,

    1) What happened since the last fine update? Did you install something?

    2) Is everything fine in the security panel of Windows?

The three panels should be activated (firewall, antivirus, automatic updates)... however the windows firewall should be deactivated.

    3) Can you use bitdefender functions (antivirus analyze...) in spite of this pop-up?

We could update the BD software without restarting the computer, as a matter of fact...

Check in the vulnerabilities file of BD if there is something fishy (softwares that are not up to date.) However it should not give this wrong alarm pop-up.

I guess BD technicians will help you asap (it is a bit late now... )

    Good evening,

    :)

    To Answer your Questions

    1) What happened since the last fine update? Did you install something?

I installed this on a freshly formatted pc.

All applications on my PC, were apps previously used before.

I am suspecting the prorgam deep freeze is conflicting with BD but im not 100 sure. (i added this in another thread.)

But all in all, just normal apps, nothing out of the ordinary.

    2) Is everything fine in the security panel of Windows?

    Yes all is fine.

Firewall was disabled upon Installation of Bitdefender

All The three notifications panels are activated (firewall, antivirus, automatic updates)

    3) can you use bitdefender functions (antivirus analyze...) in spite of this pop-up?

Everything is working fine, but the computer seems extremely slow, on Start up and Usage.

    Then My firewall Crashed.

    i hope it sets sorted.

    Hi Ddreamer,

What Operating System are you using ? Are all three notifications in Windows Security Center reported as outdated ?

In order to solve the Windows Security Center issue, please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to control panel and open Administrative tools.

    2. Click on services.

    3. Stop this service:

    - Windows Management Instrumentation

    4. Set it to Automatically start.

    5. Remove the directory C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository

    6. In the same 'Services' window search for 'Security Center' and make sure that the Startup type is set to: Automatic (Delayed Start)

    7. Reboot the PC and check if the issue still occurs.

    Regards,

  • thanks danydan.

    Im using XP SP3 . 32-bit.

But what about the extremely slow start up.

When i start the pc. the Red ball turns black for quite some time. and pc becomes very slow.

    and also

Firewall is not responding/ not working.

just all of the sudden it malfunctioned.

    any solutions

    thanks

    Hi ddreamer,

Concerning Bitdefender, I could use the repair/remove function it to see if the issue is settled.

(my grey balls are probably connected to Windows live messenger, I need to wait for the full start up of software to avoid them. Then, I close live messenger.

A solution I use on my main computer: I deactivate as many softwares as possible in the msconfig (what's the name in english?) and I restart the machine with very few programs involved, only those that are needed. I have not had any grey balls since. And I activate those I want to use the day after.

Concerning your very slow start, what could we suspect?

    1) memory breakdown (you could use memtest to check if your memory bars are fine (or you watch the screen when you reboot)

    2) hard disk problems, there are soft too to check them.

    3) presence of a malware.

However it is unusual to have a very slow start on a freshly reformated machine. I agree with you. (unless we put too many soft on an old hard disk & system (maybe a safe proof option to deactivate in the B/I/O/S?).

BD running fine on my "old" machines, I don't see what else to charge but hardware (if you are sure of your malware proof system)

    Have a nice day,

    :)
