Mounting Cdrom Failed
Hi,
I am trying to use BitDefender Rescue disk to get rid of a virus on my PC. When booting with the rescue disk in verbose mode, everything seem to work fine until it try to mount the cdrom. I get the following errors:
Mounting /dev/sr0 on /cdrom failed: invalid argument
Unable to find a medium containing a live file system
At first, I thought that I did not burn the CD correctly. But tried the CD on my laptop and worked fine.
Never used linux before, so it is really hard to troubleshoot/resolve this issue.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi MEP,
What version of the rescue CD are you trying to boot from?
Did you download it from:
http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/
Also if you have connected any external USB drives (besides mouse/keyboard) please remove them and retry.
What happens when you boot in normal linux mode (not verbose)?0 -

When I boot in normal mode, nothing appens. Black screen with "BitDefender" in the top center of the screen.0 -
By any change are you using an external USB CD-ROM?
After booting from the CD-ROM press the TAB key and insert at the end of the path : cdrom-detect
If this fails also you can use an older version of the rescue CD:

The "cdrom-detect" did not solved the issue.
The older version was able to mount cdrom but freeze when trying to discover plug-in devices??
I am about to wipe the disk clean. Any last advice before I do this. I would rather correct the problem instead of wiping the disk but it seem inevitable.0
