Skipping Many Files

When we run a full scan on my wife's laptop, it completes too quickly (10 mins?); on looking at the report, I see that it has skipped 800,000 or so files. What could cause BD to think we want it to skip files on a deep scan?

You start off by stating "full scan" but end with "deep scan" in your last sentence. A lot of variables come into play when running any scan which will affect it's runtime - the quantity and types of files on the system, any exclusions set and the BD options selected, just to name a few.

Looking at my most recent scan logs (also a laptop) show results not too different from yours. A Deep Scan took 41:33 and a Full Scan took 5:49.

Check you own scan logs and also read the User Manual for more information. Your results could be perfectly normal.
