Trojan Found In Bitdefender

Just in the last 3 days I have been getting these alerts from Malwarebytes after a full scan. Is this a false positive?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs\C:\PROGRAM FILES\BITDEFENDER\BITDEFENDER 2010\ENU\BDAGENT.UI (Trojan.Agent) -> Value: BDAGENT.UI -> Quarantined

c:\program files\bitdefender\bitdefender 2010\ENU\bdagent.ui (Trojan.Agent) -> Delete on reboot.

I remove them and BD still runs fine. It seems after each update it returns. Should I notify MWB that it is a false positive?

  • Hello shpshftr,

    Yes, this is a false positive on their part. bdagent.ui is a valid BitDefender file. It's not a critical file, which is why BitDefender continues to function without it. But it is an important file related to the user interface, which means that while BitDefender can start and run without it, it is not guaranteed to work without problems. If the file is outdated, changed or deleted, it is automatically downloaded from BitDefender servers when a product update occurs.

    If you can, you should notify them about this situation.
