Warning/notification message windows are not fully visible

Options

My Bitdefender v10 software seems to be working perfectly fine, the scans run properly, however when I get notification or virus warning pop-up windows, the window is only halfway visible, and the yes/no bottons are obscured. This causes me not being able to confirm or deny a rule/message and I have to shutdown bitdefender and restart it. It seems that bitdefender has problems displaying certain windows. I also noticed that BD windows do not fully disappear when I close them, some remnants remain on the screen and only disappear, when I sweep the mouse pointer over the area, or open another window above it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling BD...same problem. Is this an uncompatiblity issue with my graphic card or an installation issue? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi mltwitz

Are you running BitDefender on an adminstrator account or on an account with limited rights? If it's with limited rights then you can get that kind of behaviour. It could be that something went wrong during the installation. I suggest that you follow these steps first uninstall BD by the normal way via software, add & remove. Then download and use the uninstaller : http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall Run it and reboot your pc and reinstall it. Did you updated the drivers of your graphic card recently?

  • I'm running BD on an administrator account, and I have already uninstalled/re-installed it once via control panel=>software=>ad/remove, however I have not used the uninstall tool. I will try that. I will also try updating the graphic card drivers and then report back. So you think it is a graphic card issue?

But before updating the drivers of your graphics card you must uninstall first the previous ones. By removing them via software, add&remove. Reboot then your pc and install the newest drivers. If you don't know what card you have do this go to start, run,at the run dialog box type dxdiag press enter now go to the monitor (screen) tab and see what you will find after name under the device section. If you find ATI then you must go to this website : http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html or Nvidia:

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp or just enter the name in google.

In the past their was an issue in the events section of BitDefender that you couldn't read everything.

What operating system are you using?

  • Thank you for your sugestions and quick response.

I'm running Windows XP SP2. I have performed all the steps as you advised, i.e. uninstalled BD (using the uninstall tool), uninstalled all graphic card drivers (NVIDIA GEForce 7300), downloaded the current NVIDIA graphic driver and installed that and finally re-installed BD. So far I have not come across this problem, but it usually doesn't manifest itself immediately after starting the software, so it may come back at a later point in time, .....will report back if it reoccurs.

I am also running Windows xp home edition sp 2 but I have an ati radeon video card. It could be a driver issue of Nvidia. That was gladly done.

  • BitDefender has released a patch which should be avaible soon. I think that will solve the problem, since many users complained about various GUI problems.
