W32/gobi.a

Hello

I have Avira antivir in stalled for virus protection and just got bitdefender that I use as an additional on demand virus checker. Every time I run the deep scan, full scan or memory scan in bitdefender I get a virus warning message from avira warning me that code is running from the W32/Gobi.A virus and referring to a windows/temp file I have Vista op system. Does anyone have any idea why I keep getting this message or ideas what I should do about it?

Can you please say on which file avira antivir reacts?

  • Also, usually running two AV products in parallel is not recommended because (a) the system slow down is significant and (B) there is the possibility of conflicts (this is what you observer probably, but more commonly things like detecting virus in each others quarantine folders and/or preventing each other from moving / deleting files).

    Hello Niels

    Thanks for your response.

I have just ran BitDefender again and avira antivir message comes up and says as below

    C:\Windows\Temp\tmp00002f5d\tmp00000854

contains code of the Windows virus W32/Gobi.A

  • Hello orange

Can you please upload that file to your next post here on this forum? In the meantime you can upload that file to this website. If it is only detected by avira then the chance is very high that it's a false positiv. Normally temporary file can't harm your pc. I can't see the files in this section only virus researchers can download and see the attachments.

  • W32/Gobi.A is a very poor signature from Avira which detects clean temporary files generated by BD during the scan.
