Error writing to file ? (cant install??)

Hi all

I have just reinstalled windows xp and tried installing BitDefender and i keep getting this message whilst it is installing....

"Error writing to file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Scan Server\bdss.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory."

Any help much apreciated

Try this download microsoft installer again : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

Or you can try this if that doesn't solve your problem download microsoft installer cleanup: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9...1bd/msicuu2.exe

Install it and look at any reference that has BitDefender or Softwin in the name and select them and press on remove. Reboot your pc and try to install again.

Thanks for the help, although the first one would not install on me pooter and the second one did but i am still having the same problem.

You can try this also :

go to start,run,at the run dialog box type %allusersprofile% press enter

Right-click the Shared Documents folder, and choose Properties.

Click the Sharing tab, and select Share This Folder.

Click Permissions, and select Everyone in Group Or User Names.

Select Allow next to Full Control in Permissions, and then click OK.

Try also this clean up all your temp files. You can use ccleaner :

Don't forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar during installation.

Use the cleanup function and the problem function repair every problem that is founded but make a backup.

Reboot your pc.

Try to install BitDefender again.
