Contextual Log Files Always Show 0 Items Scanned

Hi,

We are having a problem with BitDefender Antivirus 2008. The problem occurs on multiple machines. We are wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or can duplicate the problem.

When we do a contextual scan of a folder or file (by right clicking it) the scan seems to complete normally. But when we look at the log file for that scan, it always shows "0" files scanned.

For example, here are the results of a scan of the Program Files folder. Note that while the scan took several minutes to complete, the scan time is shown as 1 second (along with all the zeros for files scanned, etc.).

We don't have this problem on our BD AV 10 systems, only the newer 2008 systems.

Thanks very much.

  • Hi HDB,

This is a very well known problem and has been reported before on this forum. The BD Dev Team is working on it.

This issue is only a logging issue. The files are scanned as they should be and, should an infection appear, BitDefender will detect it and will warn you about it.

    Cris.

  • OK thanks very much Cris. I recall we used to have logging problems with BD AV 10 (mostly involving limited user accounts); then they went away.

We tried searching for "contextual" before we posted but didn't get any hits :-)

    Hi HBD,

tried searching for "context", all forums, and got 2 pages of postings as result...

  • Hi Lutz,

You're right--we had only been looking for contextual in the subject lines.

    Thanks,

Well, I made the experience that it's better to search on a more comon level. Other people might use slightly different expressions.

    Have a nice weekend,

    Lutz

  • Thanks very much Lutz.

BTW the reason we were doing all this is because of some FPs we were trying to debug (see the Malware thread). It's always disconcerting to find bugs in the tools you are using to debug other bugs :-)

    Best,
