Bdis V10 - Update Failing

I tried to upgrade to BDIS 2008, but had too many problems, so I uninstalled it. I finally got most/all 2008 cleaned off the computer, and re-installed BDIS v10. Everything seemed to go smoothly, and the initial update and quickscan completed. Now, my Vista security center says that BDIS is outdated and needs to be updated. I have tried Updates/Update Now several times, but keep getting an error of invalid MD5.

I am running BDIS v10, on Vista Home Premium 32-bit...with the AV and Firewall enabled. No other AV or firewall is installed or running. Here is a screenshot of the failed update...

Help please?

  • Sorry to double post, can't find how to edit my own post...

The failed update fixed itself. After a while, I got a pop-up from BitDefender telling me it updated/upgraded to the newest build of version 10, and needed me to reboot. I rebooted, and that seems to have taken care of the failing update, and the security center alert is gone from my system tray. :)

  • Hello Fallstar,

The MD5 error has multiple possible causes, which include:

    • update servers are in process of synchronizing (this happens when new update files are uploaded on the servers).
    • slow/fluctuating internet connection, which leads to update packets corruption (and they fail the check after they are downloaded)
    • another firewall on the network corrupts the packets (maybe the firewall of your ISP)

In the case of MD5 error, the only solution is to retry updating after a few moments (maybe an hour).

    Cris.
