Here's a good one for you, Dan.
I've used Bitdefender products for a couple of years now. Liked it. Purchased 2011 Total Security and everything is great. All my programs started up great and run without a problem.
Then I wanted an automotive maintenance software program. I found "Automotive Wolf" and liked it. Downloaded the trial version and it ran flawlessly. Paid for the license key. Entered the key. Tried to run it and it would be so slow, it was unbearable. Informed their tech support of the problem and we went back and forth with emails and files. To make a long story short, I started up my Task Manager and saw that when I was starting up Automotive Wolf (AW), Bitdefender's vsserv.exe was running wild. (40-70% of my CPU usage). This was causing my AW program to be hampered in starting up and running. We decided that it was BD vsserv.exe that was the problem. The AW program ran great on another pc without BD.
Now the weird part.
I uninstalled my Bitdefender product. Now Automotive Wolf runs great. Reinstalled Bitdefender. AW runs great.......until............Bitdefender updates or gets updated. As long as Bitdefender never updates, AW runs great.
I've started up many other programs on my pc while running Task Manager with updated Bitdefender running, and they all start up and run fine. Vsserv stays low and is not a problem. But Automotive Wolf will be "devoured" by vsserv and takes forever to start up and run. Every click in the program takes a few minutes to take hold because vsserv is sucking the life out of my resources.
Why is it picking on Automotive Wolf and not the other programs?
I've replaced Bitdefender with a free program, Avast, and AW runs just fine.
Ok, I'm ready to jump through your hoops.
