Bitdefender 2012 Slow Scanning Issue

i installed bitdefender 2012 last night and scan my laptop..it took 4-5hrs ..and i scanning it right now it almost 2hrs already its like 5% scanned...to slow..im just scanning 160gb...and my laptop now is so slow..its like im using pentium 66..

Only the first full system scan should take a longer period of time. The next scans should take less and less because of the smart scanning features BitDefender is using.

The Full System Scan task scans the entire computer for all types of malware threatening its security, such as viruses, spyware, adware, rootkits and others. If you have turned off Auto Scan, it is recommended to run a Full System Scan at least once a week.

Note: Because Full System Scan performs a thorough scan of the entire system, the scan may take a while. Therefore, it is recommended to run this task when you are not using your computer.

Before running a Full System Scan, the following are recommended:

Make sure Bitdefender is up-to-date with its malware signatures. Scanning your computer using an outdated signature database may prevent Bitdefender from detecting new malware found since the last update. For more information, please refer to “Update”.

Shut down all open programs.

If you want to scan specific locations on your computer or to configure the scanning options, configure and run a custom scan. For more information, please refer to “Configuring and running a custom scan”.

To run a Full System Scan, follow these steps:

- Open the Bitdefender window.

- Go to the Antivirus panel.

- Click Scan now and select Full System Scan from the drop-down menu.

- Follow the Antivirus Scan wizard to complete the scan.
