I just noticed a Deepscan I've done took less than 6 minutes and skipped searching most of my files.

Scan time: 00: 05: 56

Files per second: 257

Skipped items: 408930

Password-protected items: 0

Over-compressed items: 0

Scanned archives: 1

Input-output errors: 0

Scanned boot sectors: 3

Scanned processes: 2625

Infected processes: 0

Scanned registry keys: 2716

Infected registry keys: 0

Scanned cookies: 0

Infected cookies: 0

Is there a setting that I've missed? What's going on?

  • Under Antivirus-->Shield-->Custom Level, if you have Scan only new and changed files (for increased performance) checked, then the scan will skip unchanged items since the last scan.

I have that option checked and get similar results:

    Scan time: 01: 54: 28

    Files per second: 86

    Skipped items: 32477

    Password-protected items: 5

    Over-compressed items: 0

    Scanned archives: 40114

    Input-output errors: 0

    Scanned boot sectors: 4

    Scanned processes: 3369

    Infected processes: 0

    Scanned registry keys: 11108

    Infected registry keys: 0

    Scanned cookies: 115

    Infected cookies: 4

Note that I have an older, slower PC, only 86 files per second.

    Regards,

  • Appreciate the info.

Probably what I had checked in 2011. Got too frustrated before your reply and downloaded 2012.

2012 resulted in stalled loading of webpages that needed to be constantly refreshed. Gave up and downloaded a copy of Essentials. Maybe I'll try 2012 again in the future.
