Good day guys. I have windows xp professional with SP2. I have bitdefender 9 professional plus and ad-aware 2005. My OS, antivirus and antispyware are well-updated. My windows xp is installed on my C: partition and I have a
partition also.
This problem is sort of unique: Ad-aware was scanning my
/System Volume Information and then bitdefender pops a message that says something like "virus detected" in a folder in
/System Volume Information. I don't remember the exact message but i recall it had some long string of numbers and letters. Then bitdefender says that it blocked the virus and that my system has not been affected.
But now, how do i get rid of the virus? it's still there in
/Sys Vol Info , right? Every time i scan my PC with bitdefender, it won't go into the
/Sys Vol Info. And Ad-aware won't traverse this folder either. I tried uninstalling bitdefender and installing kaspersky but kaspersky won't go into this folder as well.
Here's my theory: while ad-aware was scanning, the virus suddenly activated but bitdefender sealed it in but also inadvertently made my
/sys vol info folder inaccessible.
I try to access it using command prompt and windows explorer but a message appears saying "Access Denied". However, I can freely access my C:/System Vol Info folder.
Also, in the past, both my C:/sys vol info folder and my
/sys vol info folder were also accessible via windows explorer.
So now, how do i get rid of the virus? bitdefender just won't enter
/System Volume Information to kill that parasite.
