Online Backup

Options

I can't find an answer to this on the forum or user guide.

I am using Total Security 2011. Although the online backup feature is useful in an emergency, how do I remove/delete the files which have been backed up to Bitdefenders "vaults". If/when I cease my subscription to Bitdefender I don't want my personal data/files sitting on some server somewhere.

Thank you

    Hello 14k,

The web interface for the Online Backup service in Bitdefender Total Security 2009 -> 2011 versions can be accessed at: http://myaccount.bitdefenderbackup.com/

From here you will be able to manage your files or even permanently cancel your account.

    Regards,

    George

Thanks George. I can log into my account through that link and see the files I had backed up. I also have the option of "sharing" and "recovering", but how do I delete?..

  • Hello 14k,

I know how inconvenient it is, however individual files can not be deleted. If there are privacy concerns, you can cancel the entire account before your subscription ends or wait for the account to be automatically canceled 30 days after your subscription expires.

    Fine :(

Not having a go or anything, but what assurance do we get as customers that our data is purged/wiped appropriately following closure of our accounts?

I guess this is an issue in general with cloud services.

  • Hello 14k,

Please check the Bitdefender EULA agreement. In regards to the data remaining on the servers, as far as support goes, once the account is canceled the data can never be recovered.

    Regards,

    George
