Bitdefender Total Security 2012
Removed all previous installs of virus, internet and malware protections. Ran registry cleaners and restarted Vista Home Premium pc. Installed Bitdefender Total Security 2012, registered and ran update utility. Everything seemed to be fine. Then I allowed windows update to run. Re-booted pc. It got as far as a black screen on my monitor and just locked there. Followed some steps I found on this forum. 1) Re-booted in Safe Mode with Networking. 2) Downloaded the Bitdefender uninstall utility and ran it. 3)Re-botted pc and started up OK. Downloaded the Bitdefender support tool and ran it. It ran for a while and just locked up.
After that I decided to run my Registry Mechanic and CCleaner utilities to clean up registry and tried to run the Bitdefender support utility again. Still locked up.
I have purchased a 3 pc package of Bitdefender Total Security 2012 and have it installed on my Windows 7 64-bit pc and my Windows XP SP3 laptop and everything runs great. What is up with Vista Home Premium?

UPDATE:
I thought I'd try something else.
Previously I had used BitDefender_tsecurity installer.
I downloaded BitDefender_ts_2012_32b installer and re-installed again after insuring that there were absolutely no traces of any other virus, internet or malware software on the Vista Home Premium pc.
I shut down the pc and started up again.
Pc started up and everything was running fine. Success!!!!
I then allowed BDTS 2012 to update.
Again, I shut down the pc and started back up.
Got as far as the welcome screen and the screen went black, with only the cursor showing and locked up again.
Problem is back. Is there a problem with the updates?0 -
UPDATE 2:
OK! While I was writing the previous update, I left the pc running.
The screen stayed black and locked up for a very long time.
After I finished the previous update, the pc started up completely?
It, apparently, just took a very long time for the updates to finish loading during the start up.
Just to be sure, I shut down the pc and restarted it again. It booted up normally. No black screen delay.
I believe, that some where in this process, I came up with the correct solution because the first time I installed BDTS 2012 it would not start up at all.
I hope this helps someone.0 -

Hello
Could you please run it in Safe Mode?
[How to restart in SAFE MODE With Networking]
- Restart the computer;
- Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;
- Select "SAFE MODE With Networking"
Have a great weekend!0
