Firewall Help

Hi all so unlike most posts here talking about the firewall blocking everything, my firewall on my 2012 internet security doesn't block programs when I tell it to. For example if I set the application rule to deny firefox the firewall still lets it access the internet. I purchased the 3 license version and have it installed on my desktop and laptop. My desktop is the one with this problem as on my laptop the firewall application rules work just fine and block what I tell it to block.


Do I need to reinstall the entire thing on my desktop? Also, another thing I noticed that differed between my desktop and laptop is under network details, on the home interface, the firewall shows no network activity even though I'm clearly online.... this doesn't happen with my laptop. Does this mean that for the past 2 days the firewall hasn't been functioning properly and my desktop has been exposed all this time?


My desktop is fairly new, built it like 3weeks prior so it shouldn't be malware that affected the installation (read it on another thread that malware could affect the installation). I'm at work right now so I can't post any logs on my firewall. At the moment I'm just content if one of the admins could post some firewall reinstall or something so I don't have to reactivate everything again.

Also a side question I somehow managed to install comodo firewall with defense + enabled and it seems to run fine with BD internet security's firewall enabled, will I run into issues having both enabled? Is there some link that some one could send me to test how good a firewall is? I tried some of the tests on grc and it passed all the ones I tried.

    I updated to the 2013 suite and at first the firewall was functioning, however after I came back (went outside and computer was shut off) I find that the firewall is not working properly again. It doesn't show any network activity and I'm not sure what's wrong with it. For the time being I've installed comodo firewall as there doesn't seem to be any major conflicts/slowdowns but it would be nice to find a fix to this problem.
