Bitdefender Is Not Responding

I had BDTS 2012 Installed for approx 2 months with absolutley no issues (bar 1 false positive) but upgraded to the 2013 version a few days ago. Since then I have had quite a few problems when opening the user interface i.e. from the tray icon. What usually happens is the UI opens and then just hangs. Hovering my mouse over the taskbar icon then shows Bitdefender is not responding. Sometimes, although not always, it also causes my Laptop to lock up any any program I may have open eg WMP or Firefox/IE will also report not responding. It usually only lasts 30 seconds or so before everything is fine again but this is a major annoyance that happens nearly every time I open the UI and something that never occured with BDTS 2012. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.


I am running BDTS 2013 on an Asus N55SF Laptop. Win 7 Home Premium with Intel Core i7, 6GB RAM and Nvidia GT555m 2GB so specs are obviously not a problem. I have run the support tool and have the resulting file saved on my desktop should you need me to send it. Many thanks.

  • After no feedback I kept trying for myself and have resolved the issue by completley uninstalling BDTS 2013, running Ccleaner and a doing registry clean with TuneUp Utilities and reinstalling BDTS 2013.

    A product update was released. Your build should be 16.18.0.1406(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).


    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).
