Cannot Run Cricut Craft Room

When I attempt to run Cricut Craft Room it crashes as shown in this image. If I uninstall BDTS 2013 then this program works perfectly. I've tried adding the program to the Exclusion list, also tried turning everything off (antivirus, firewall, etc.). The only way I can get this program to run normal is by uninstalling Bitdefender completely.

I'd really had to ditch Bitdefender because it's not compatible with one critical program I use. How can we get to the bottom of this?

    Hi Cody :)

    I have received the logs.

    Did you tried this workaround?

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry148077

    Take care.

  • (sorry looks like our recent messages crossed)

Yes I tried it late last night. Instead of improving the situation it made many things worse:

    1) It did not fix the problem with Cricut Craft Room. Same behavior, same crash

    2) My Outllook email stopped working, stating it couldn't lookup the DNS name of my POP3 mail servers

    3) My Win 7 Stock desktop gadget stopped working

    4) My Dilbert desktop gadget stopped working

    5) My network meter desktop gadget stopped working

    6) I also have iTunes installed. It started complained that the BonJour service was not running.

Once I restored those two DLL's back to their ".dll" extension (in safe mode) and rebooted my computer I was back to my current state where only Cricut Craft Room is broken.

    Hello :)

Please confirm me one thing: in Safe Mode, Cricut Craft Room is running properly?

    Thank you!

  • Yes I can positively confirm it does:

Here is running in Safe mode: http://screencast.com/t/x8u5QYsriPN0

Here is running in normal mode: http://www.screencast.com/t/WBQAAhN0vh

Here is running immediately after uninstalling BDTS 2013 and not even rebooting the computer as prompted by the uninstall: http://screencast.com/t/hW8OfqSv44wU

    Thanks,

    Cody

P.S. I manage software tech support for my company as well. I know all to well what it feels like to be on your side.

  • What's next? Is it time I request a refund due to product incompatibility?

    Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.18.0.1406(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

  • The following steps were given to me by Andreea Olteanu a Bitdefender Technical Support Engineer

To manage the situation you are encountering we recommend you to add the application in the Exclusions list as follows:

    1. Open the Bitdefender window.

    2. Click the "Settings" button on the upper toolbar.

    3. In the "Settings Overview" window, select Antivirus.

    4. In the "Antivirus Settings" window, select the Exclusions tab.

    5. Make sure "Exclusions for files" is turned on by clicking the switch.

    6. Click the "Excluded files and folders" link.

    7. Click the "Add"button, located at the top of the exclusions table.

    8. Click "Browse", select the folder that you want to be excluded from scanning. Make sure it's excluded for "both" on-access and "on-demand"

    scanning and then click OK.

    9. Click "Add" and then click OK to save the changes and close the window.

    10. Then click on "Excluded processes", add the .exe file of the application and make sure it is "Allowed" > click "Add" and then on Close.

    Recheck if the application works.

I applied the above steps to the Bitdefender Antivirus configuration and Cricut Craftroom came up and would run.
