Windows Home Server Connection

Options

Hello everyone,

i´ve got an Windows Home Server 2011. Since i´ve installed BitDefender Internet Security 2013, there no more possibility to connect to my Windows Home Server with Launchpad or Dashboard from my client. Before i used BitDefender on my client was installed McAfee IS 2012 - there was no problem.

RDP-Connection works!

Could anybody help me?

Thanks in advance..!

    Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.18.0.1406(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

I have the same problem, although i can login to the dashboard and with remote desktop. The Launchpad does not log in, and Lights-Out is not working as well...

Im using the (latest) version 16.18.0.1406.

Have tried to solve it turning off the firewall, but it made no difference. All was working fine earlier today with F-Secure running. Installing BitDefender 2013 internet security seems to be blocking communications between WHS 2011 and the Launchpad and Lights-Out app.

  • Have uninstalled BitDefender and WHS 2011 Launchpad and Lights-Out work without a hitch. Have uninstalled the WHS 2011 connector software and Lights-out app next. Reinstalled BitDefender and reinstalled the WHS 2011 connector software. I still can access the WHS 2011 server using the dashboard and remote desktop. Using Launchpad still does not work. Also reinstalling Lights-Out app does not work.

Furthermore I tried to allow connections using paranoid firewall settings, and when starting the launchpad it does not show a pop up for me to allow. Seem like BitDefender is blocking the communication automatically without any user interaction at all...

  • I think its more and more looking like a Bitdefender 2013 bug. I just installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 evaluation version, and this version has no problems at all with the Launchpad and Lights-Out application.

You might want to add this to your buglist, would sure like this one to be resolved soon :-)

    Thank you Christian :-)

It is working now, I'm very pleased with this!

However, it did not work without some changes to the settings, this is what I had to do to get it working:

    * remove all firewall applications rules related to Windows Home Server applications

    * add & allow all ip adresses used on my network at the firewall apdapter rule settings --> these are not added automatically ?!

    * restart a few times

Above points solved the issues, I can now use the launchpad, dashboard and lights-out applications again. Still need to test time server and backup, but I'm confident these will works as well...

Hi Christian sorry i'll rephrase im suffering from all the issue previously mentioned with the added problem that my WHS 2011 cannot "wake up" my pc to start backups from sleep, also backups fail due to timeouts and the most frustrating is i am unable to transfer files over the network "ethernet" from pc to whs 2011, when i disable firewall all is great with speeds of transfer averaging 110MB which is the norm for my set up. TBH the bitdefender firewall is a little too time consuming and fiddly for the average person i would have thought ! also i never seem to get notifications on whether to allow or deny actions even in paranoid i mode wish this feature was brought back !!!

    Thanks

PS i'm using the latest build

    Have a nice day.

  • I'm resurrecting this old post to convey that I'm experiencing this same issue as of today, 20150330, after a reboot this morning. I don't reboot very often, so I'm not certain which update might have caused this.

I am able to connect to the Window Home Server 2011 via all other means (RDP, Dashboard, etc.) except from the Launchpad. I've tried to quit and restart the Launchpad, disabling the BD IS 2015 Firewall, and adding the LaunchPad.exe to the Firewall rules. Nothing helps. When I connect via the Dashboard, I can see that the server thinks my PC is offline, which it isn't.

Has something changed in a recent update that might be causing this?

    Please advise.
