Loooonnnnnggggg Install Fails

Options

I posted the below in reponse to topic "Will Not Intall" by user Cloud9. The topic was closed, because other people hijacked the thread with unrelated problems. However, I have not seen a solution posted for Cloud9. Did he ever get this fixed?

I did receive an email regarding my ticket on Saturday which I replied to but nothing since. Would really liket to get this thing installed.

I am having the exact same problem. I also have 64bit Win7 computers. However, the first one I installed on went without a hitch. The second one I have scanned up to 12 hours before cancelling. I have tried rebooting into safe mode... no luck. I have tried removing all programs from startup (unchecking them in system configuration startup)...no luck, and I have tried downloading the entire executable installation (250mb+) rather than doing the download thing... again no luck.

I just cancelled and got a refund on my Trend Micro Titanium as it let a trojan.generic.kdv onto my system which compromised my banking account and debit card. When I did online scans, BitDefender was the first to find it and remove it so I thought I would buy it and so I did. Well, it's installed on 1 machine, cannot install on the second machine and am waiting to see what happens on machine 2 before installing on machine 3. Will I have to cancel and get a refund on this too???

No, I've tried and tried and tried to get this program off my computer with no luck. I finally downloaded AVG just a little while ago. I've really had it with this not uninstalling.

I myself am now trying to install F-Secure which was one of the other two on line scanners that caught my trojan infection. I'll let you know how it turns out.

FYI. OK. F-Secure took all of about 15 minutes start to finish to install with no hiccups.

I believe it uses a Bitdefender scanning engine, along with its own.

Thanks kmphillips. I'm going to try this because I've been having similar issues with other programs. Hopefully this will work for me too. <img class=" />

    Hello :)

I don't thing that is a solution for the issue.

Have you tried to install the software without an active internet connection? During the initial quick scan from the installation process, the product is communicating with the cloud servers and in the current situation, something is interfering in this process and the connection is lost.

    Thank you!

I tried with no active internet connection. It still acts like it is scanning but the blue bar has not moved. I have disabled EVERYTHING in system configuration for the startup tab. I have sent you a log to review and comment.

Is there a possibility of a hardware problem? Either with my HDD (which is defragmented) or video card?

Is there a way to install and BYPASS the scanning until AFTER it is installed?

    Hello :)

For the current situation, let's do a silent installation.

Download your product from here and save it on your desktop.

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=312&id=53

Unpack the kit 7-Zip, WinRAR or any archiver.

After this, please start Command Prompt with Administrator privileges.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-vista-run-box/

Navigate to the folder where you unpacked the kit and run this command:

    setupdownloader.exe /silent

Now, please take a coffee and wait, the process will take a while.

The process will finish automatically and the security widget should appear on your desktop.

I have attached a screenshot with the commands.

When I click on the link above it takes me to a page with executable files. Is this what you mean because there are no *.zip or *.rar files listed on that page.

So, I typed "bitdefender_isecurity" and it is running the windows installer. Do I wait until it is done downloading and then type bitdefender.exe /silent? As there is no file on my desktop by that name yet.

    Hello :)

If you have 7-ZIP or WinRAR installed, if you right click on the installation kit(the online downloader), you can extract the content in a folder.

After this, you can run the command from my last post.

    The installation should run smoothly.

    Have a great week!
